The 411 on the Costco Auto Program

Costco Auto Program

I recently bought a new car because my previous vehicle was totaled in a car accident last year (it was the other driver’s fault). My wife and I checked out various cars at the dealerships. When we decided on a Toyota Rav4, we signed up for the Costco Auto Program. It’s a free service that makes it easy for members to get a low price on new and used cars. All you have to do is go online, select the vehicle you want, and then fill out a short web form. Then a dealer will contact you and provide you with the exclusive prearranged Costco member price for the vehicle you choose. The price we got was over $2000 less than the MSRP (including destination fee). However, we found the same model advertised online at another dealership for about $1300 less than Costco’s price.

7 Ways to Connect Your Car

Connected Car - Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)

At the recent TNT Portland event, I talked with a couple of people about the connected car. New cars today come with cool tech like rear view camera system or Bluetooth technology. But if you have an older car like most people (including me), you don’t need to purchase a new car to get the latest in-vehicle technology. Owners of older cars can actually have the latest connected-car technologies installed in their current vehicles. According to the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), it typically costs less money than a comparable option package on a new vehicle from the same companies auto manufacturers use. Holiday Gift Idea ~ Cars Micro Drifters Trackset and Vehicle Assortment

Toddler playing with Mattel's Cars Micro Drifters Super Speedway Playset

Mattel sent me their Cars Micro Drifters Track set for review on my dad blog. It’s totally awesome! My toddler loves Pixar Cars so it isn’t a big surprise that he loves this toy set too. What is surprising is that my three other children love this Cars track set too. I’m pretty sure it’s because of the motorized booster that shoots the cars up the track. The Cars Micro Drifters Track set has a list price of $48.99. However, Amazon is currently selling it for $15.99. You better hurry, I’m sure Amazon will raise the price back up. You know how Amazon is with their roller coaster pricing.

Holiday Gift Idea: 2011 Hess Toy Truck and Race Car

My won with the 2011 Hess Toy Truck and Race Car

Here’s another holiday gift idea for a child: the 2011 Hess Toy Truck and Race Car. This year’s set features a truck with a flatbed for transporting the racing car. This is the first time I’ve seen a Hess vehicle in person [Hess Toy Truck (Facebook) sent me a unit to review on my dad blog]. Now that I’ve checked one out, I can say the toy set is pretty cool. Bottom line: the Hess truck and car are very well made. They’re rugged, the craftsmanship is excellent, the sounds are realistic, and the wheel spinning action is incredibly smooth. Amazon is selling the 2011 Hess Toy Truck and Race Car for $50.95. However, dads and moms can purchase the truck and car set for $26.99 at local Hess and Hess Express retail stores (most of them are in the East Coast).
