Watch TV Everywhere with an App – win a Visa gift card

TV Everywhere

Did you know you can watch TV just about anywhere — even when you’re on the road? It’s true. All you have to do is download an app for your smartphone or tablet, or visit a website on your laptop or desktop computer. Then all you have to do is log in and you can watch your favorite TV shows or sporting events live, or download shows to watch offline. Pretty cool, right? And very convenient. I know there have many occasions when I could’ve used the TV Everywhere app. For instance, earlier this month I waited over an hour to re-register my car. And there have also been many times when I had to wait a very long time for a table at a restaurant (we’re a family of six and apparently tables for six are hard to come by). BTW, thanks to TV Everywhere, I’m giving away a prize pack on my dad blog. The prize pack consists of a $25 Visa gift card and a TV Everywhere tablet cover.

World’s Greatest TV Dad Contest

Man of the House, an online resource for dads, is hosting the “World’s Greatest TV Dad” contest. The bracket-style competition features 32 father figures from television shows. Voters can vote weekly for their favorite dad in each pairing. The dad with the most votes in each match-up advances until there is only one dad left on June 17th. The TV dads were selected by the editorial team of Man of the House. They used four criteria for their selection: (1) shared household responsibilities, (2) relationship with children, (3) personal health/style/appearance, and (4) work/family balance.

The truth about the Truth Be Told movie

P&G and Wal-Mart invited me to a special online screening of their new TV movie, Truth Be Told. The film is actually part of P&G’s and Wal-Mart’s Family Movie Night series. The two companies partnered to provide programming that are fun and action-packed. They also designed the programming so dads and moms don’t have to worry about inappropriate ads or content. Walmart and P&G teamed together to create the Family Moments initiative to help parents and their children better connect with each other. Family Movie Night (enter their sweepstakes to win a 55″ LCD TV and home theater system) is a part of their movement to provide meaningful entertainment for the entire family. The premiere of Truth Be Told will take place this Saturday, April 16th. It will air on FOX at 8pm (7pm central time).

Ameba TV Review

Ameba, an IPTV company, sent me a set top box to review on my dad blog. The Ameba TV box is essentially a hard drive that enables dads and moms to download shows for their children watch on a regular TV. It’s kinda of like a combination of cable and Tivo. But instead of recording cable shows, parents download content with an Internet connection. And unlike cable, Ameba gives parents total control over what their children can watch by allowing them to preselect content from thousands of educational and music themed shows. The kids and I have used Ameba TV on and off for about a month now (we’re returning it soon).
