The past week was spring break and it wasn’t easy keeping the kids entertained — especially the youngest one, who likes to tell me constantly that he’s bored. If it was up to the kids, they would play video games all day long. But that’s not good. Fortunately for everyone, they didn’t play video games all week. In addition to video games, the kids also did things like swimming, volleyball, making clay figures, going to the mall, and playing with toys like Hasbro’s My Little Pony Equestria Girls and Mr. Potato Head Transformer. This is actually what this blog post is about — a review of the Hasbro toys.
My kids and I are anxiously waiting for the release of the new Star Wars movie. We can’t wait to see The Force Awakens. We’re big Star Wars. The Force is strong in our family. So strong in fact that I’m sure my kids would be happy to receive more Star Wars toys for Christmas. And thanks to Hasbro, I’m giving away a Star Wars toy on my dad blog. The winner of my giveaway can select one of the Star Wars toys mentioned in this blog post. Continue reading too see my list of five Star Wars gift ideas.
Halloween is over, Thanksgiving is coming up, and Christmas is just around the corner. If you’re already thinking about what to get your kids for Christ
mas, then I have some ideas for you. It’s not easy finding the right toy for kids, right? It’s not easy for me either, but I do have a method that I like to use. Basically, I try to visualize in my mind if my children will like a particular toy. I factor in their personalities and things I know they like. For instance, I can visualize my two youngest kids role playing with FurReal Friends StarLily and Play All Day Elmo. My older boy (superhero fanboy) would probably like the Marvel’s Avengers Starter Pack, and my oldest girl (brainy child) would probably like Scrabble Twist. I don’t know for certain if my kids will like the toys I get them, but I think visualizing helps with the process.
Sorry everyone. I had to put the giveaway on hold. The contest will resume the first week of June. For those of you who have already entered, don’t worry, your entry will be saved in Rafflecopter. Once again, I am very sorry for having to take this giveaway offline.
Earlier in the month we hosted a Max Steel party at our house. My son invited two of his friends and my daughter also invited two of her friends. My pre-schooler even joined in on the fun. Everyone had a turbo good time. We watched a Max Steel DVD and played with some Max Steel toys. Everyone liked playing with the action figures, but the Max Steel turbo sword was everyone’s favorite. I think everyone thought the sword’s blue light and turbo sound were very cool.
Are you guys excited about the new Superman movie coming out this Friday? My son and I saw an early screening of Man of Steel (Warner Bros.) earlier in the week. We loved it! As you can probably guess, my kids and I are superhero fanboys. That’s why we were so excited when Mattel sent us a sample of their new Man of Steel toys for review on my dad blog. The Superman toys are awesome!
I have a last minute holiday gift idea — Shredz snow-ready action figures for kids. My children think the toys are neat. Unfortunately, the Shredz snowboard action figures are designed to be played in the snow and the snow around here has not stuck yet. I think my kids were hoping school would be cancelled this week because of the snow, but the snow melted as soon as the flakes hit the ground. No worries, I’m still hosting a giveaway on my dad blog today. Thanks to SwimWays, I’m giving away two awesome Shredz prize packages.
Today I have a list of toys and other items of interest for kids. The list consists of products I or my children have actually used. These are items that I think some kids might enjoy under the Christmas tree.
Mattel sent me a couple of their new Fijit Friends Newbies for review on my dad blog. The Fijit Friends Newbies are musical toys that sing and dance. My six-year old daughter and three-year old son love them. In fact, my little girl loves the Fijit Friends Newbies toy so much that she asked her teacher at school if she could bring the toy to class for show and tell. Isn’t that cute? The Fijit Friends Newbies are available now for $18 (Amazon is currently selling them for $14.49 each). There are eight different characters and colors to choose from (or collect all eight). The new Mattel toys are intended for children ages six and up.
Here’s another holiday gift idea for a child: the 2011 Hess Toy Truck and Race Car. This year’s set features a truck with a flatbed for transporting the racing car. This is the first time I’ve seen a Hess vehicle in person [Hess Toy Truck (Facebook) sent me a unit to review on my dad blog]. Now that I’ve checked one out, I can say the toy set is pretty cool. Bottom line: the Hess truck and car are very well made. They’re rugged, the craftsmanship is excellent, the sounds are realistic, and the wheel spinning action is incredibly smooth. Amazon is selling the 2011 Hess Toy Truck and Race Car for $50.95. However, dads and moms can purchase the truck and car set for $26.99 at local Hess and Hess Express retail stores (most of them are in the East Coast).
