Hello, dads and moms. I was on a two-week vacation on the East coast at the end of August. I’m slowly getting back into the blogging groove. Not sure if this is a good thing or not, but you can expect some travel blog posts. I have one winner announcement on my dad blog today. But first, below are upcoming giveaways on my dad blog.
Ice Age: Collision Course Blu-ray Giveaway (coming soon)
My kids can’t wait to see the new The Angry Birds Movie — especially my youngest son. He’s an Angry Birds nut. It’s a good thing there’s an early screening of The Angry Birds Movie next weekend (10 am, Saturday, May 14th, Regal Bridgeport). Download and print out your free tickets at the Sony Screenings site. The Angry Birds Movie will open in theaters May 20th.
Thanks to Bigben Interactive, I’m giving away one of their new Parental Control kits for the Nintendo 3DS and Playstation 3 (PS3). My children love playing video games. If it was up to my kids, they would play all day long. Luckily, it’s not up to them. We’re big meanies, so we like to boss the kids around and tell them when they can play and when they have to turn off their devices. Unfortunately, that means we have to keep track of how long the kids have been playing. This is when the new Parental Control kits come in handy. The video gaming products can automatically monitor and limit your children’s gameplay time. Neat!
If you’re looking for a gift for someone who loves video games, then check out my list below.
Sonic Generations (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC, 3DS)
This is a fun game for the entire family. My kids really love this video game. I’ve never played a Sonic game before or watched an episode of the TV show. So it’s safe for me to say, you can still have a blast without knowing anything about the little hedgehog. The Sonic Generations video game kinda reminded me of Super Mario, but at a much faster pace. The Xbox version of this game is $50.89, the PS3 version is $55.32, and the PC version is $29.95. There’s also a Nintendo 3DS version of Sonic Generations for $59.99.
I received an exclusive video of the new Toiletnator character for the Cartoon Network: Punch Time Explosion XL video game. The new brawler video game features 26 playable Cartoon Network characters (including eight new characters — like the Toiletnator). In the video game, players can duke it out with friends for cartoon supremacy. The Cartoon Network: Punch Time Explosion XL video game is available for the Sony PlayStation 3, Microsoft Xbox360 and the Nintendo Wii game consoles. It will hit stores on Tuesday, November 15th. Thanks to Cartoon Network, I’m giving away a copy of their new game.
I’ve been given the go ahead to run an Xbox 360 Kinect system giveaway on my dad blog. Sweet! The sponsor isn’t Microsoft so I’m going to blog about the Xbox Kinect video game console today and write about the sponsor and Xbox 360 Kinect giveaway in a separate post next week. I also wrote about the technology behind the Kinect sensor on my Geek Dad Blog.
In my opinion, Microsoft’s Kinect system will be this Christmas must have electronics item. In fact, when I checked online on Wednesday, both Best Buy and Amazon were sold out of the Kinect Sensor. If you see it in a store, you should snag one now because people on eBay are already selling it for $200 or more even though the list price is only $150. Luckily, you can still get the Xbox 360 4GB Console with Kinect for $300 and the Xbox 360 250GB Console with Kinect for $400.
Target is running specials on game systems and accessories starting this Sunday (August 22). Dads and moms can get a Nintendo Wii game system (includes Wii Sports, remote, and nunchuk) for $150 ($50 off). Dads and moms can also get a Wii Remote with MotionPlus (available in pink, black or blue) for $30 (save $20). We have two remotes already, but we’re thinking about getting additional remotes because we have four kids that like to bicker over the controller. BTW, if you’re thinking about getting one of the newer Wii games, you can save $20 if you purchase any two of the following video games: Harry Potter Years 1-4 (my oldest daughter wants this one), Super Mario Galaxy 2, Toy Story 3, and Just Dance.
The kids and I have been playing the Marvel Super Hero Squad video game (by THQ) for over two months now (bought it over the Christmas holidays). As some of you know, my kids are into superheroes (just like super dad). And because my super kids love super heroes, they think Super Hero Squad is super awesome. If your kids are into superheroes and you’re looking for a gift idea, my kids recommend Super Hero Squad. The video game is fun for geek dads and moms too (I can vouch for that).
