Are you still looking for a Father’s Day gift idea for dad? If you are, then you should consider the Google Home personal assistant device or the Google Pixel smartphone. I’ve been demoing the two devices for the last few days. I think they are both awesome and I would love to receive either one (or both) for Father’s Day. BTW, Verizon sent me loaners for review on my dad blog. As some of you know, Verizon’s network gives customers the broadest coverage, best speeds, and unsurpassed reliability.
If you’re looking for a Father’s Day gift idea, you should definitely consider giving dad an indoor skydiving package with iFly. I went to iFly with some co-works earlier in the year and we loved it. The experience is fun and totally cool. I think iFly would be something most dads would love to try. And until June 18th (Father’s Day), you can even save up to $50 on a package or voucher.
Check out the cute photo of my youngest daughter in a Belle costume. Disney gave me the gown and accessories to celebrate the release of Beauty and the Beast. My oldest daughter has seen the movie three times already. She really loves it. I really like the film too. It’s a love story and a musical with wonderful songs. I also like the messages in the movie: inner beauty is more important than how you look on the outside, the right person can bring out the best in you, and a woman doesn’t have to settle for just any man to be happy. The film is excellent and I think everyone will enjoy it. Beauty and the Beast is available now on Blu-ray, DVD, and digital HD. Note: Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures (WDSMP) sent me a Blu-ray to review on my dad blog. As always, the opinions expressed are mine and I am not obligated to write a positive review.
Rock Dog (giveaway) is an animated film about a guard dog (Bodi) that wants to become a musician. His father is against this, but Bodi follows his heart and his dream eventually does come true. The film is a mix of comedy and music, but my two youngest kids like this movie mainly for the humor. They think the film is funny. BTW, Rock Dog is rated PG for action and language. Rock Dog is available now on digital HD and will be available on Blu-ray and DVD on May 23rd. Note: I received a movie for review on my blog. As always, the opinions expressed are mine and I am not obligated to write a positive review.
The Space Between Us is a light drama with a touch of romance and sci-fi. It’s about a human boy born on Mars who returns to Earth. He hooks up with his penpal girlfriend and goes on a quest to find his father. It’s essentially a coming-of-age story about a boy who grew up in a sheltered environment and a girl that doesn’t quite fit in at school. Even though I was expecting a sci-fi story, I still enjoyed the movie because I liked the interaction between the two main characters. The Space Between Us is available now on digital HD and will be available on Blu-ray and DVD on May 16th. Note: Universal Pictures Home Entertainment sent me a movie for review on my dad blog.
Sony Pictures Home Entertainment is re-releasing A League of Their Own on Blu-ray on April 18th. It’s been a long time since I’ve watched this movie. I liked it 25 years ago, and I still think it’s excellent after watching it again recently. The story is about two sisters joining the first women baseball team. It’s a humorous drama, but I think most parents will appreciate the underlying message that women can live their dream.
Shout! Factory released Country Crush today. It’s a musical featuring country music. The movie is about about an aspiring singer (Nancy) who meets a country mechanic (Charlie). Even though Nancy has a boyfriend, Nancy and Charlie are drawn together. But then Nancy’s career gets in the way and the two struggle to stay together. The city-girl meets country-boy storyline is predictable, but you can’t help but root for them. And the music is awesome and I’m not even a country fan. Country Crush is available exclusively at Walmart. Thanks to Shout! Factory, I’m giving away the Country Crush DVD on my dad blog.
The kids and I watched Moana over the weekend. It was my youngest son’s birthday so we made a party out of it. He didn’t want a Polynesian theme party. Instead, he insisted on dinosaurs. He’s into that right now, so we had a dino-theme Moana birthday party. I know that’s a weird combo, but it’s really hard to argue with the birthday boy. Plus we had a really fun time. The little guy laughed a lot during the animated film — especially the scenes with Heihei the chicken. If you have not seen Moana yet, you should. We highly recommend the movie. It’s a fun flick for the entire family. Moana is available now on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD. Note: I received a movie kit from Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures (WDSMP) for reviewing Moana on my dad blog. As always, the opinions expressed are mine and I am not obligated to write a positive review.
HBO recently released season one of Vice Principals on Blu-ray and DVD. The cable TV show is about two school vice principals scheming to get rid of the new principal. Both VP’s think they should be the principal. The story isn’t very realistic (especially the profanity at school), but the series is funny. If you’re looking for a new series to binge watch, you should definitely check out Vice Principals: The Complete First Season.
Disney is releasing Pinocchio this week. You know how Disney works. They like to pull many of their movies from retailers and store them in their magical vault. Then they release the titles again many years later. This time around, Disney is releasing Pinocchio in stores. And for the first time ever, Pinocchio is available in Digital HD and Disney Movies Anywhere. That means you can cut the cord and watch the film anywhere without strings. Cool, right? I also like the digital HD option because I don’t have to find a place to store the film. After a couple of decades of collecting DVDs and Blu-rays, I have run out of space on my bookcase. BTW, I received a movie kit for writing this review. As always, the opinions expressed are mine and I am not obligated to write a positive review.
