I watched The Finest Hours (sweepstakes) over the weekend. The movie is a suspenseful story about the greatest small-boat rescue in Coast Guard history. The film is based on true events that took place in 1952. The story starts off as a love story, but then quickly turns into a disaster drama. I enjoyed the movie. The story kept me on the edge of my seat and I really cared for the characters. The film is rated PG-13 for intense sequences of peril. The Finest Hours will be available on Blu-ray Combo Pack, DVD, Digital HD and Disney Movies Anywhere on May 24th.

Good morning, dads and moms. Our heatwave is melting my brian. I think I’m going to move the family to the North Pole. Before I go, I have two winner announcements this Saturday morning. But first, here are the current open giveaways on my dad blog:
Lionsgate and HIT Entertainment sent me the new Fireman Sam: Heroic Rescue Adventures DVD for review and giveaway on my dad blog. My two youngest children really enjoyed the latest Fireman Sam DVD. While watching it, I noticed two things about the stories. First, everyone calls Sam when they need help even though there are several firemen on the show. Second thing I noticed is that one of the firemen looks a little like a young Elvis Presley. His name is even Elvis and he sings in a couple of the episodes. BTW, Fireman Sam: Heroic Rescue Adventures will be available on DVD, and via digital download and video-on-demand on August 7, 2012. It has a list price of $9.98, but you can currently get it for $8.99 on Amazon.
The next time you’re in the first aid section at the store, be sure to check out the new Sports Shield Bandages. They are sports-theme bandages for sports-loving children (dads and moms too). The Jolly Group sent me a box of their soccer theme bandages to review on my dad blog. My kids are not into soccer, but they love these bandages. I think it’s because the bandages has pictures of soccer balls on them. I like them too because they are nicer than the cheap bandages we usually buy.
Lionsgate and HIT Entertainment sent me the new Fireman Sam: Rescue on the Water DVD for review and giveaway on my dad blog. My kids and I watched this over the weekend. They all enjoyed it, but my two youngest ones (ages three and six) wanted to watch it again after the DVD was over. I guess that means they really like Fireman Sam. The 55-minute Fireman Sam: Rescue on the Water will be available tomorrow (April 3rd) on DVD, digital download, and on demand. It has a list price of $9.98, but you can currently purchase it for $6.99 on Amazon (what a great price).
Any train lovers out there? I hope so because I’m doing a review and giveaway of Thomas & Friends on my dad blog today. Here’s the situation: I’m writing about two Thomas & Friends DVD titles, but I can only give away the Rescue on the Rails DVD. Sorry about that. Both the Thomas & Friends Holiday Favorites and Rescue on the Rails are fun gifts for the little one that is into Thomas the train (like my toddler). Holiday Favorites Gift Set is available now for $19.98 (currently $11.99 on Amazon), and Rescue on the Rails will be available on December 6th for $14.98 (currently $11.99 on Amazon).
