There are plenty of new Blu-rays and DVDs to choose from this week. Batman: The Killing Joke (animated) and Bite (Elma Begovic) are at the top of my list. If you’re looking for something light, there’s Mother’s Day (Jennifer Aniston, Kate Hudson). If you are in the mood for a comedy, there’s Keanu (Jordan Peele, Keegan-Michael Key) and The Bronze (Cecily Strong, Melissa Rauch). Other new releases include The Lobster (Colin Farrell, Rachel Weisz), High-Rise (Tom Hiddleston, Jeremy Irons), The Trust (Nicolas Cage, Elijah Wood), and Gibby (Shelby Lyon). It’s Mother Day this Sunday. In honor of this special day for moms all over the world, I wanted to share a video from Huggies (see below). The company created a heartfelt video showing expectant moms and dads reading letters they’ve written to their baby. It’s a great idea and I wished I wrote a letter to my kids before they were born. Huggies thinks it’s a great idea too and encourages expectant mothers and fathers to write and share their own Letters to Baby. BTW, thanks to Huggies, I’m giving away a month’s supply of Huggies Little Snugglers Diapers on my dad blog.
As you all know, Mother’s Day is this Sunday. You do know Mother’s Day is this weekend, right? Well you should. Even the hatchlings of The Angry Birds Movie know Mother’s Day is coming up. If you don’t believe me, see for yourself in the video below. BTW, you can see a free screening of The Angry Birds Movie in Portland next weekend. The Angry Birds Movie (Sony Pictures) will open in theaters on May 20th.
It looks like it’s going to be a another busy weekend at the theaters. New films include Ratchet & Clank (animated), Mother’s Day (Jennifer Aniston, Kate Hudson, Julia Roberts), Keanu (Keegan-Michael Key, Jordan Peele), A Beautiful Planet (documentary), L’attesa (Juliette Binoche), The Man Who Knew Infinity (Dev Patel), Papa: Hemingway in Cuba (Giovanni Ribisi), and Viva (Héctor Medina). Ratchet & Clank and Mother’s Day look the most interesting. Continue reading for summaries and trailers of the new movies for this weekend.
Mother’s Day is this Sunday. If you’re still looking for an idea (or completely forgot because you’ve a dork), consider a Kindle or Fire HD for the geek mom in your life. For instance, you can purchase a Kindle e-reader for only $59 on Amazon.com. And the special price includes free shipping!
Mother’s Day is next Sunday so I thought I would share some gift ideas today. If the mom in your life is into gadgets, think about getting her an Amazon Fire TV, Kindle Fire HDX or Kindle Paperwhite. Fire TV is a small box that plugs into a TV and gives moms access to content from Netflix, Showtime, Hulu Plus and other media providers (including video on demand and video games). It’s a great gift for moms who are into entertainment. For moms who are into reading, there’s the Kindle Paperwhite. The e-reader is small, but it can hold up to 1,100 books (not including free cloud storage). For moms who love books, surfing the web, playing games, and watching movies, there’s the Kindle Fire HDX. The device is a tablet that lets moms do it all. Not only will the Kindle Fire HDX entertain moms, the tablet can also act as a babysitter via the Kindle FreeTime feature that lets moms create customized profiles for children. With FreeTime, mothers can set daily screen limits and give access to appropriate content for their kids. Continue reading for other Mother’s Day gift ideas.
Mother’s Day is less than nine days away. If you are still looking for a Mother’s Day gift idea, think about giving mom the movie night she deserves with the Best of Warner Bros 100 Film Collection. As you can probably guess, it’s a DVD boxset collection that features 100 Warner Bros movies (follow the previous link to see the 100 titles includes). And thanks to Warner Bros, I’m giving away the DVD boxset ($597.97 MSRP, but it’s under $400 on Amazon) on my movie blog.
Sol Republic sent me their new Jax in-ear headphone for review and giveaway on my dad blog. I love the Sol Republic Jax in-ear headphone. They are light and the sound is awesome. The headphone features the all-new i2 Sound Engines, a tangle-free cable and a 3-button remote control and microphone. Even better is the price tag — only $39.99.
