Good morning everyone. I’m just writing a quick note about Amazon’s Summer Reading Contest. The grand prize includes something for each family member to enjoy — the newly relaunched Kindle Paperwhite, two Kindle Voyages (Amazon’s most advanced e-reader), three kindle covers, Amazon’s Fire HD Kids Edition tablet (designed specifically for kids with a 2-year worry-free guarantee), a pair of kid’s headphones, a Fire TV, a Fire phone, and a $500 Amazon Gift Card. Awesome, right? I have not entered yet, but my understanding is that all you need to do to enter is submit a photo of your children reading. You better hurry, the contest ends Monday, August 3rd.
Mother’s Day is this Sunday. If you’re still looking for an idea (or completely forgot because you’ve a dork), consider a Kindle or Fire HD for the geek mom in your life. For instance, you can purchase a Kindle e-reader for only $59 on Amazon.com. And the special price includes free shipping!
Hi everyone. I know you guys are busy with Thanksgiving activities and pre-Black Friday deals. That’s actually what I’m writing about today. Amazon is running Black Friday promotions on their Kindles, tablets, Fire TV sticks, and phones. Some of the specials have already started, but most of them will begin on Thanksgiving day. Continue reading to see Amazon’s Black Friday deal. The promotions are good while supplies last.
Mother’s Day is next Sunday so I thought I would share some gift ideas today. If the mom in your life is into gadgets, think about getting her an Amazon Fire TV, Kindle Fire HDX or Kindle Paperwhite. Fire TV is a small box that plugs into a TV and gives moms access to content from Netflix, Showtime, Hulu Plus and other media providers (including video on demand and video games). It’s a great gift for moms who are into entertainment. For moms who are into reading, there’s the Kindle Paperwhite. The e-reader is small, but it can hold up to 1,100 books (not including free cloud storage). For moms who love books, surfing the web, playing games, and watching movies, there’s the Kindle Fire HDX. The device is a tablet that lets moms do it all. Not only will the Kindle Fire HDX entertain moms, the tablet can also act as a babysitter via the Kindle FreeTime feature that lets moms create customized profiles for children. With FreeTime, mothers can set daily screen limits and give access to appropriate content for their kids. Continue reading for other Mother’s Day gift ideas.
Brainy Connections sent me a pdf version of their new book for review on my dad blog. The title of the new book is: Good Enough Parenting – The Sensible Discipline Guide for New Parents (written by Lisl Fair). The book is intended for parents of children ages one to six. I skimmed the book over the weekend and I learned some useful tips. Good Enough Parenting – The Sensible Discipline Guide for New Parents is currently available on Amazon Kindle for $2.99 (note: you can borrow it for free if you’re a Prime member).
Valentine’s Day is 12 days away. If you are still looking for gift ideas, check out my list below. All the gifts are under $35 and the list doesn’t include jewelry, flowers, or lingerie (is this a gift for a woman, man, or both?). BTW, the Amazon team is trying to convince me a Kindle Wireless Reading Device would make an excellent Valentine’s gift. To me, the Kindle seems more like a birthday, Mother’s/Father’s Day, or Christmas gift. On the other hand, if you bundle the Kindle with a bunch of love stories (like the ones written by Nicholas Sparks), then that would be a good Valentine’s gift for a book lover. On another note, if you are thinking about breakfast in bed with your loved one, then check out these handy items:
- Valentine’s Day-I Love You Egg Shaper ($5.49)
- Valentines Day XOXO Ice Tray ($8.99)
- Wilton Decorative Preferred 6-Inch Heart Pan ($9.46)
- Wilton Valentine’s 6 Piece Mini Cutter Set ($6.76)
- Wilton Mini Heart Silicone Baking Cups ($10.70)
- Wilton Valentine Nonpareils Sprinkles, 5.25-Ounce Containers ($3.00)
