Has anyone seen The Devil’s Hand yet? The movie was released on iTunes, VOD and in select theaters recently. The film is about six girls born on the same day. One of the girls will eventually become the Devil’s Hand. The film stars Jennifer Carpenter (Dexter), Rufus Sewell (Dark City), and Adelaide Kane (The CW’s Reign). If you have not see the Devil’s Hand yet, now’s your chance. Thanks to Roadside Attractions, I’m giving away a $15 iTunes giftcard to a reader of my dad blog.
Our family recently went on a Rio road trip. OK, it was actually just a day trip from Portland down to Corvallis and Marys Peak (highest peak in the Oregon Coast Range). My oldest child will be a freshman in high school this fall, so I wanted to introduce her to my alma mater, Oregon State University. She still has four years to decide where she wants to go to college, but I figure I should start the brainwashing as early as possible. The last thing I want to see happen is for my daughter to become an Oregon Duck, my school’s rival to the south. Anyway, this post isn’t about selecting a college. I’m actually sharing some road survival trips for parents of young kids.
Did you know this Saturday (April 26) is National Pretzel Day? To be honest, until recently, I didn’t even know there was a special day for pretzels. My family loves pretzels. Every day is pretzel day at our house. As part of the National Pretzel Day celebration, I’m giving away a Break Happy kit on my dad blog. Thank you Rold Gold! The prize pack consists of six bags of Pretzel Thins, a $25 iTunes gift card, jasmine-scented soy candle and a break happy inspirational poster.
Good morning, everyone. Can you believe it’s going to be August in a few days? It still feels like spring over here because we have not had a single 90° day this year. Now back to business. I have three winner announcements this morning. But first, here are the current open giveaways on my dad blog:
Another two for one special today. First, I’m going to review the new Twist app (by Twist and Shout). Then I’m going to give away a $25 iTunes gift card. Nice!
This week, I’ve been playing with the Twist app for the Apple iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch (iOS 4.0 or later). The app sends emails to your family, friends and colleagues to let them know when you will arrive. The app also sends out alerts to tell people when you are almost there and if you are running late. Obviously, you could text out your status. However, Twist does it automatically so you don’t have to text and drive (very dangerous and illegal in Oregon). BTW, the Twist app is free. However, it’s currently available in the US only. A world-wide release is coming soon. An Android version will also be released in the future.
Dads and moms should check out QFC’s gift cards promotion for Best Buy, iTunes, Bath & Body Works, Applebee’s, Sears, Pottery Barn, Bass Pro Shops, and SpaFinder. Buy $100 of the participating gift cards (mix and match) and you’ll get $10 off. The gift cards promotion expires after December 13, 2009 and there is a limit of five $10 rewards per household. In other words, you can buy a $500 flat screen TV at Best Buy for $450…and then send it to me for Christmas (you can keep the remaining $50 — I insist). Thank you in advance.
[Disclosure: I like to shout out “Flame on!” when I run up the stairs at home.]
