Like many of you, I find this time of the year very hectic. Not only do we have to run around looking for presents, we also have to deal with the horrible holiday traffic. And good luck with finding good parking at the mall. So, if you’re wondering how to plan a stress-free holiday get together where you won’t miss out on any of the fun and find the perfect gifts for your loved ones, you’re in luck! I’m sharing some good holiday tips from on-air personality, and lifestyle and entertaining expert Limor Suss. And thanks to JCPenney, I’m giving away a $75 gift card on my dad blog. Awesome, right?
Still looking for a gift idea for a girl? How about the Nerf Rebelle Codebreaker Crossbow Blaster. Thanks to movies like the Hunger Games and Brave, my kids are into bows and arrows. Don’t worry parents, the arrows are actually soft foam darts. Obviously dads and moms need to tell their kids not to aim the crossbow at someone’s face. BTW, it’s classified as a girl toy on the Hasbro website, but I think it’s fine for boys too.
Halloween is over, Thanksgiving is coming up, and Christmas is just around the corner. If you’re already thinking about what to get your kids for Christ
mas, then I have some ideas for you. It’s not easy finding the right toy for kids, right? It’s not easy for me either, but I do have a method that I like to use. Basically, I try to visualize in my mind if my children will like a particular toy. I factor in their personalities and things I know they like. For instance, I can visualize my two youngest kids role playing with FurReal Friends StarLily and Play All Day Elmo. My older boy (superhero fanboy) would probably like the Marvel’s Avengers Starter Pack, and my oldest girl (brainy child) would probably like Scrabble Twist. I don’t know for certain if my kids will like the toys I get them, but I think visualizing helps with the process.
There are only a few days left before Christmas. If you’re still looking for a gift idea, think about one of the cool Nest gadgets. They are nerdy gifts for the geek in your life.
I reviewed Angels Sing earlier in the week. Now’s your chance to win the DVD on my dad blog. Angels Sing is about a man who doesn’t like Christmas. The film stars Harry Connick Jr. and Connie Britton. It is a movie that the whole family can watch and enjoy during the holidays. Angels Sing (Cowgirl Up) is available now on DVD and Blu-ray.

Check out the Riddler costume I received for review on my dad blog. My son picked it out from the Wholesale Costume Club website. Apparently, he wants to be a villain next Halloween. As you can probably guess, Halloween is big at our house. In fact, a costume wouldn’t be consider a bad gift for Christmas in our family. I know, we’re weird. BTW, the costume is available in both medium and large sizes. The regular price for the item at Wholesale Costume Club is $28.98 ($26.96 for members).
The kids and I recently watched Marvel Knights: The Wolverine Collection. Shout! Factory sent me the 5-DVD set for review on my dad blog. The kids and I really enjoyed the Marvel Knights: The Wolverine Collection. The stories were interesting and gritty. The 5-DVD set is an excellent gift for fans of Wolverine. Marvel Knights: The Wolverine Collection is available now. It has a list price of $29.93, but you can currently purchase the DVD set on Amazon for $16.99. Note: even though the stories are animated (motion comic book style), the DVD set is probably intended for older kids and adults. There are a lot of bloody scenes and some of the content is suggestive.
I’m sure many of you are excited about Black Friday and of course all the pre Black Friday sales. But if you can’t find the right gift this weekend, then you should think about shopping at Barnes & Noble. In addition to zillions of books, Barnes & Noble also has toys, games, and the Nook tablet.
