Looks like a busy weekend at the theaters. New films include Jack Reacher: Never Go Back (Tom Cruise), Keeping Up with the Joneses (Zach Galifianakis, Jon Hamm, Gal Gadot), Ouija: Origin of Evil (Annalise Basso, Henry Thomas), Boo! A Madea Halloween (Tyler Perry), I’m Not Ashamed (Masey McLain), American Pastoral (Ewan McGregor), Autumn Lights (Guy Kent), The Handmaiden (Kim Min-hee), In a Valley of Violence (Ethan Hawke, John Travolta), Moonlight (Trevante Rhodes), and We Are X (documentary). My son and I can’t wait to see the Deadpool movie next February. We love Deadpool. He’s funny like Spiderman, but he has no moral compass. He’s not a villain, so I guess that makes Deadpool an anti-hero. For those of you who don’t know, Deadpool’s super power is speed healing. He’s just about impossible to kill. In fact, if his head was severed, all he has do is stitch it back on and he’s good to go. BTW, Deadpool’s real name is Wade Wilson. Wade got his super power from a secret organization (remember the X-Men Origins: Wolverine movie?). Even though he’s not like the other superheroes, Deadpool is one my favorite superhero characters. That’s one of the reasons why I love my new Deadpool costume (see photos). It’s awesome!
My youngest son and I recently watched Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: Mickey’s Monster Musical. Disney Junior sent me the DVD for review on my dad blog. We both enjoyed the DVD. I like the Halloween theme episode the best, but my son likes the farm episode better. The new DVD features three episodes plus a bonus episode. In addition, the DVD includes a cute, reusable trick-or-treat mini tote (while supplies last). BTW, the DVD is almost two hours long. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: Mickey’s Monster Musical is available now on DVD. It has a list price of $19.99, but you can currently purchase it on Amazon for $11.99.
If you’re a regular reader of my dad blog, then you know the kids and I love Halloween. In my opinion, Halloween should be a national holiday. We love decorating and dressing up for Halloween. Last year, my kids dressed up as Flash, Deathstroke, Apple White, and a serial killer. That’s right, my youngest daughter wanted to be a serial killer. I hope that’s not a sign of things to come. For the next Halloween, she’s going to dress up as Harley Quinn. If you don’t know, Harley Quinn is the Joker’s sidekick. Like the Joker, Harley Quinn is a prankster and has a wicked sense of humor. Kinda of like my youngest daughter.
Halloween is just around the corner. If you’re looking for a scary movie to watch this weekend, consider seeing The Blair Witch Project, Cabin in the Woods, Exists, Cabin Fever and The Descent. To help promote their terror-tastic films, Lionsgate is giving away a UV digital HD download code for The Blair Witch Project on my dad blog. Continue reading to find out how you can win the move.
The best holiday of the year is just around the corner. That’s right, it’ll be Halloween in less than three weeks. I’ve been taking the kids around town to check out the latest Halloween props. What a big disappointment. All the stores we went to, except for one, didn’t really have any cool Halloween decorations. It’s like they decided to scale back on Halloween so they could focus on Christmas instead. I can’t believe they’re messing with my favorite holiday of the year. Spirit Halloween was the exception. They have just as much cool (if not more) Halloween stuff as last year.
Wholesale Halloween Costumes sent me a Cleopatra costume for review on my dad blog. I’m not into cross dressing, so I had my wife try on the costume instead. That was a good decision because my wife looks stunning in the Cleopatra costume. The costume fits well. However, my wife said the belt was too big. But I’m sure that’s easy to fix with a piece of velcro. We both loved the cape, but it was a bit weird having the ends attached to the wrists. On the other hand, it was neat to see the cape spread out when she lifted her arms. We both think the costume looks good. But now we need to get some accessories like a staff, jeweled arm bands and maybe a wig.
My kids and I love Kung Fu Panda and Monsters vs Aliens. If your kids love them too, then today might be your lucky day. Thanks to DreamWorks Animation and 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment, I’m giving away two DVDs on my dad blog: Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness – The Scorpion Sting and Monsters Vs Aliens: Cloning Around. Both titles would be great additions to your Halloween movies collection. The new Kung Fu Panda and Monsters vs Aliens DVDs are available now at a store near you.
