I went to California Pizza Kitchen for the first time recently. My wife and kids have actually been there before when they were shopping at Bridgeport Village. But shopping isn’t my thing and Bridgeport Village is about 25 miles away. Anyways, I was very impressed with California Pizza. The food was delicious, the service was awesome, and the prices were reasonable. I also learned CPK will work with you on food allergies. And BTW, California Pizza offers more than just pizzas (like pasta, chicken, salads, sandwiches, fish, soup, etc). Oh, one more thing. CPK gift cards are great stocking stuffers. And when you purchase $100 in gift cards, you’ll receive a $20 promotional card for yourself (sweet, right?). This promotion runs through January 2, 2017.

My kids hate it when Little Disney pulls out his feeding tube because they know I tend to do crazy dad things when that happens — like insist on taking photos of all the children together. For some strange reason, I like taking a photograph of the toddler when he doesn’t have something sticking out of his nose. I’m crazy that way. The kids better watch out because I might do something even crazier — like kiss and hug them. And if I mutate into a completely loony dad, I might even tell the kids something crazy like I love them.
This week on my dad blog, I have three short news stories that may be of interest to dads and moms:
Read Across America at Walmart
Walmart.com is running a month-long promotion on children books as part of Read Across America Day and Dr. Seuss’s birthday. Dads and moms can save up to 40% on the top 500 children’s books. Parents can purchase children books for as low as $3 (including free shipping). According to various studies, by the age of two, children who are read to regularly display greater language comprehension, larger vocabularies, and higher cognitive skills. The Early Childhood Longitudinal Study found that children who were read to at least three times a week by a family member were almost twice as likely to score in the top 25 percent in reading.
The winner of the P.F. Chang’s China Bistro giveaway is Maureen. Thanks to the generous people at P.F. Chang’s, Maureen will receive a $100 gift card. BTW, it’s still not too late to take advantage of P.F. Chang’s gift card promotion for the holidays. For every $50 in P.F. Chang’s gift cards purchased, you will receive a $10 Be Our Guest Card for use in 2010. Offer ends December 31, 2009.
The generous people over at P.F. Chang’s China Bistro sent me a $50 gift card. Awesome! They will also send a $100 gift card to a lucky reader of this dad blog. Double awesome!
As you probably can tell by their name, P.F. Chang’s is an Asian restaurant. Actually, P.F. Chang’s China Bistro is a chain of 190 upscale casual dining restaurants. Upscale and casual? When I saw that on their website, I was skeptical too. When I think of upscale, I’m picturing a jacket, tie, and an experience far from casual. However, when we dined there, I was pleasantly surprised that the restaurant was indeed both upscale and casual. The restaurant was spectacular and no one even glared at us when my kids were a little too loud.
