Did you know Zact Mobile is the first wireless service provider to let parents remotely manage their child’s phone from their own handset? As a parent, I love this feature because I’m concerned about my kids’ mobile usage and what they do with their smartphones. With Zact’s no contract phones, I can set limits on the amount of talk, text and data time. In addition, I can block contacts and control which apps my children has access to.
My oldest daughter and I saw an early screening of Oz The Great and Powerful last Monday. As you can probably guess, the movie is a prequel to the classic Wizard of Oz. In a way, Oz The Great and Powerful is an origin story. The film reveals how a Kansas magician became the Wizard of Oz, and how a good witch turned into a wicked witch. The story is a little predictable (especially if you’ve seen the Wizard of Oz), but there are some unexpected twists in the movie. Oz The Great and Powerful (Disney) opens in theaters on Friday.
Hello dads and moms. My little boy is sick today. Poor guy. Anyway, I have three winner announcements today. But first, here are the current open giveaways on my dad blog:
- Movies On Demand Giveaway (ends 2/26)
- Strawberry Shortcake Giveaway (ends 2/27)
- Claim Your Taste Giveaway (ends 3/1)
My youngest daughter and I went to an early screening of The Secret of the Wings (Disney Studios) earlier in the month. I think this is the fourth installment of the Disney Fairies series. In The Secret of the Wings, Tinker Bell meets her twin sister, Periwinkle. My daughter and I enjoyed the movie. In fact, my daughter told me afterwards to buy the DVD so her sister and brothers could watch the movie. She thinks they will love it too. The Secret of the Wings is available now on Blu-ray and DVD. The Secret of the Wings Blu-ray 3D Combo Pack retails for $49.99, but you can currently purchase it on Amazon for $29.96. Amazon is also selling The Secret of the Wings DVD for $16.99 (list price of $29.99).
Two of my kids and I saw a screening of The Odd Life of Timothy Green last week. We enjoyed the movie very much. It’s delightful and a great family movie. The Odd Life of Timothy Green (Walt Disney Pictures) opens in theaters today. Below is a quick summary of the film. Continue reading for the full movie review of The Odd Life of Timothy Green.

We’ve been to Disneyland twice in the last for four years. We learned quite a bit from our first trip so we were able to pack more rides in our second trip. This is actually quite amazing because the first time we went, we were at Disneyland for two and a half days. This time, we were only there for one day and we still got on more rides than our previous multi-day visit. For instance, this time around we went on Splash Mountain six times, Indiana Jones twice, Big Thunder Railroad twice, the new Matterhorn (faster than before), Grizzly River Run, Goofy’s Sky School, and many other rides. If you’re planning on going to Disneyland and California Adventure Park in the near future, then you should check out my tips below. The tips will help you get the most out of your trip to the Magic Kingdom. In my opinion, Disneyland is the happiest place on Earth — until you get stuck in a long line.
We checked out the new Cars Land at Disneyland earlier in the month. Cars Land (located next to A Bug’s Land) is actually a new attraction in Disney’s California Adventure Park. My toddler loves the characters in the Cars movies so we were looking forward to seeing the new Cars Land. Unfortunately, for us, it was a major disappointment. The new land itself isn’t bad from what I could see. The problem is that Cars Land was way too crowded. When we went at noon (we were at the other Disneyland park for the first four hours), one ride had a waiting time of about an hour, another ride had a wait of over two hours, and the third ride had a wait of over four hours.
Two of my kids and I were invited to see a screening of the Lion King (Disney) last month. We actually have the Lion King on DVD, but we have not watched it in several years. The re-release of the Lion King movie will return to theatres next Friday (September 16th) for a special two-week engagement. Good news for the 3D lovers out there, the G-rated film will actually be released in 3D for the first time. Bottom line: Lion King is a classic. It has a great soundtrack and is fun for both kids and parents. The Lion King is good on DVD, but is even better on the big screen.

As many dads and moms know, Tangled is Disney’s latest hit movie. We actually received passes for a free screening of the movie last month, but we didn’t make it to the theater in time (it’s not easy to pack up four kids and head across town). I’m not actually blogging about the movie today. Instead, I’m writing about the Disney Tangled Rapunzel toys because the Mattel team recently sent my five-year old daughter a couple of Tangled toys to play with. As some of you know, my youngest daughter is actually a tomboy. She prefers boy toys over girl toys so I wasn’t sure if she would like the Rapunzel doll (it’s very girly). The verdict: she loves the Rapunzel doll and Maximus horse.
