The kids and I went to see the Harlem Globetrotters over the weekend. It was the first time any of us have seen the Globetrotters. The game was a nail-biter and went into sudden death before the Globetrotters finally beat the Washington Generals. BTW, the Generals have not beaten the Globetrotters since 1971. Even though the game was close, it wasn’t a great game because neither team played defense. However, the game was very entertaining and my kids laughed their heads off.
Summer is just around the corner. Now would be a good time to sign up for one of the Harlem Globetrotter Summer Basketball Clinics. They will take place in Austin, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Miami, New York / New Jersey, Orange County, Phoenix, Portland, Sacramento, Salt Lake City, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, St. Louis, and Washington DC. And thanks to US Family Guide, you can get $10 off with the promo code USFAMILY when you register for a basketball clinic. You better hurry because space is limited.
March Madness is over. Congratulations to the Louisville Cardinals (men’s champion) and the UConn Huskies (women’s champion). Oregon State wasn’t in the Big Dance this year. Actually, the Beavers have not been a part of March Madness for several centuries. Luckily, it’s now baseball season and the Beavers are currently ranked sixth in the nation. They have a good chance of making it to the College World Series (top eight teams). Speaking of collegiate sports, I have an awesome giveaway on my dad blog today. Thanks to Reese’s, which is the official candy partner of the NCAA, I’m giving away a collegiate prize pack: $50 ShopNCAASports.com gift card, a regulation NCAA Wilson basketball, and lots of Reese’s candy (yummy!).
Any basketball fans out there? If you are, then you should be happy to hear I’m giving away the new Thunderstruck Blu-ray Combo Pack on my dad blog. I have not seen the movie, but according to the press material, the film features NBA superstar Kevin Durant. Kevin plays for the the Oklahoma City Thunder basketball team in real life. He’s one of the best player in the NBA. It’s too bad my Portland Trail Blazers didn’t draft Durant with the number one draft pick instead of Greg Oden. Anyway, Thunderstruck (Warner Bros. Home Entertainment) will be available on DVD and Blu-ray tomorrow (December 4th).
The next time you’re in the first aid section at the store, be sure to check out the new Sports Shield Bandages. They are sports-theme bandages for sports-loving children (dads and moms too). The Jolly Group sent me a box of their soccer theme bandages to review on my dad blog. My kids are not into soccer, but they love these bandages. I think it’s because the bandages has pictures of soccer balls on them. I like them too because they are nicer than the cheap bandages we usually buy.
March Madness is just a couple of weeks away. That’s when normal collegiate basketball fans go mad with excitement — especially if their favorite team makes it to the Final Four. I won’t have that problem this year because my team, Oregon State, won’t be going to the NCAA tournament unless they win the Pac-10 tournament (highly unlikely — I have a better chance giving birth). To help kick off March Madness, Supercuts (Facebook | Twitter) launched their Hunt for Houston Sweepstakes. The winner gets a trip for two to Houston, which is where the final four teams will play for the NCAA basketball championship. Supercuts is also giving away a prize pack on my giveaway blog:
- $20 Supercuts gift card
- $20 Sports Authority gift card
- Desk/office basketball game set – hoop/ball
- Foam finger
