Sony Pictures Home Entertainment is re-releasing A League of Their Own on Blu-ray on April 18th. It’s been a long time since I’ve watched this movie. I liked it 25 years ago, and I still think it’s excellent after watching it again recently. The story is about two sisters joining the first women baseball team. It’s a humorous drama, but I think most parents will appreciate the underlying message that women can live their dream.
Sports Illustrated Kids sent me their latest book for review on my dad blog. The title of the new book is Sports Illustrated Kids Full Count: Top 10 Lists of Everything in Baseball. Just in time for the playoffs and the World Series. My son and I love the baseball book. As you can tell by the title, the book is full of baseball lists. It covers just about everything a kid would want to know about America’s favorite pastime. Sports Illustrated Kids Full Count is available now for $19.95. However, you can currently purchase the 96-page hardcover book on Amazon for $12.82.
Sports Illustrated Kids sent me a copy of their Big Book of Why: Sports Edition for review on my dad blog. The book features answers to many kid’s sports questions. The book is great for sports-loving kids, but you don’t have to be a sports nut to like this book. My son loves the book too even though he’s not big on sports. I also found the book really interesting (I’m not a kid, but I am a sports nut). I think it makes a fun coffee table book. The book will also come in handy on long road trips. Sports Illustrated Kids’ BIG Book of Why: Sports Edition officially goes on sale next Tuesday for $17.95. However, Amazon is already selling the book for $14.
The next time you’re in the first aid section at the store, be sure to check out the new Sports Shield Bandages. They are sports-theme bandages for sports-loving children (dads and moms too). The Jolly Group sent me a box of their soccer theme bandages to review on my dad blog. My kids are not into soccer, but they love these bandages. I think it’s because the bandages has pictures of soccer balls on them. I like them too because they are nicer than the cheap bandages we usually buy.
My son and I received the new Pro Files: Baseball (Sports Illustrated) for review on my dad blog. The 96-page hardcover book targets children ages eight to twelve. My oldest son isn’t into baseball, but he still loves this book. He doesn’t follow baseball and doesn’t know any of the players in the book, so I’m not sure why he likes the book. However, he did mention the favorite cartoon characters of the players in the book. That’s right, Pro Files: Baseball lists inside information like favorite car, movies, actor, food, cartoon character, video game, etc. Pro Files: Baseball is available now with a list price of $17.95, but you can currently purchase it on Amazon for $13.46.
