If you’re a fan of Blinky Bill, then you’ll be happy to know Blinky Bill: The Movie is coming out on Blu-ray and DVD on October 11th. For those of you who don’t know (like me) Blinky Bill is a koala. Ratchet & Clank is rolling out on Blu-ray and DVD today. The PG-rated film is based on a PlayStation video game. It’s about two unlikely heroes trying to save the universe. My kids liked the animated film and I thought the movie was OK. Keep in mind the kids and I have never played the Ratchet and Clank video game. Kubo and the Two Strings Movie Review

Kubo and the Two Strings | Laika Studios

The kids and I saw an early screening of Kubo and the Two Strings on Monday. We loved it and think it’s Laika’s best film to date. The new stop-motion movie features more CGI than previous Laika movies. I also thought the film was more emotional than previous releases from Laika. Parts of the story were sad and reminded me a little of the opening story in Disney Pixar’s Up movie. The soundtrack was also excellent — during the sad scenes. Kubo and the Two Strings (Laika Studios and Focus Features) is out in theaters today. The 101-minute animated film is rated PG for thematic elements, scary images, action and peril.

There’s going to be a new series on Disney XD. It’s called Future-Worm! The new series is about a 12-year-old boy named Danny Douglas. In the series, Danny creates a time machine lunch box and befriends Future Worm, a fearless worm from the future with titanium-enforced abs (think Hulk Hogan meets Kris Kristofferson with a dash of Mr. T). The new series was created by Ryan Quincy, an alum of the Emmy Award-winning South Park series. Future-Worm! will premiere Monday August 1st on Disney XD.
