Monster Mash

This is one of those good news, bad news post.

Bad news: we lost power yesterday evening.

Good news: power was out for less than two hours.

Bad news: it was annoying having to reset all the electronics afterwards.

Good news for me: I finished editing my Halloween video on Saturday.

Bad news for you: I get to torment my readers with another video. You’re welcome.

That’s one of the fun part of being a dad — making fun videos of the kids (and eating their Halloween candy when they are asleep). One of these days, the kids will be embarrassed by the videos. But right now, the videos make my kids laugh their little heads off.

Woman Kills Husband Online

Posted by Daddy Forever on Thursday, October 23, 2008 : : 18 comments

Maple StoryAnyone hear about the woman who killed her virtual husband? Apparently, in an online role playing game (Maple Story), her husband divorced her and she got upset. So she used the login information her virtual husband gave her, hacked the game, and killed off her online husband. The other person complained to the police and they arrested her. Then they jailed her in the city where the man lived, which is 620 miles from her home. The two individuals are not married to each other in real life and they don’t even know each other.

It’s just a game! You would think if someone killed someone virtually, then the police could just virtually arrest her. Plus it’s also partly his fault for giving the woman his login info. Who in their right mind gives out their login id and password to someone they never met?

Elephants, Tigers, and Bears

Over the weekend, we went to see the new baby elephant (Samudra) at the Oregon Zoo. Samudra was born to Rose-Tu on August 23, 2008. Here are a few quick notes about our trip:

  1. Be glad you’re not a pregnant elephant. The gestation period for an elephant is 22 months.
  2. Samudra, a male elephant, will eventually live a solitary life. The herd consists of females only. Adult males usually live on their own.
  3. Animals are more active when they are cold. We went early to avoid the long baby elephant line and it was in the 40’s. During our visit, we actually saw animals move around for a change. Normally when we visit, the animals just lie around, watch soap operas, and eat Bon Bons all day.

Mommy, can I have some soda?

Disneyland Souvenir

Posted by Daddy Forever on Tuesday, October 21, 2008 : : 29 comments

Apparently my wife and I spent a little too much time in Fantasyland during our trip to Disneyland last summer. We’re expecting a little Disney souvenir in March. According to the VooDoo doctor, it’s going to be a boy. I’m not sure what the doctor and ultrasound tech were smoking, but I don’t see any boy parts in the ultrasound photo. I can’t even tell if the lifeform is human.

Love Your Body

Le (Third Pole Dancer on the Right) gave me an award last week. I don’t remember the exact name of the award. It’s either the “Love Your Body” or “Love Your Blog” award. I think I was given the award for the color of my underwear or something like that. Anyhow, Le promised me she’ll take care of our minor economy problem if I answer a few questions for her:

1. Where is your cell phone?
Sitting on my desk, feeling sorry for itself because it’s not an iPhone, gPhone, or BlackBerry Storm. I think it might commit suicide.

2. Where is your significant other?
She’s on the sofa, half sleeping, half watching TV, and half eating. Yeah, I know, that’s three halves. It’s girls math. My wife taught it to me.

3. Your hair color?
Sinister black.

4. Your mother?
I have one.

5. Your father?
I have one of those too

6. Your favorite thing?
Rainbows, stars, sunshine, sunsets, and full moons (no, not the mooning kind).

7. Your dream last night?
I don’t have dreams. I think I might be an android.

8. Your dream/goal?
To rule the universe.

9. The room you’re in?
My home office. I would like to call it my man cave, but my wife is in here every evening.

10. Your hobby?
It use to be photography, but I have no time for hobbies anymore. I barely have time to breath. Plus my SLR is broken.

11. Your fear?
Losing my wife and kids, kryptonite, and developing an extra eye on my forehead.

12. Where do you want to be in 6 years?
Starring in Star Wars, Episode 8. I will be a big hit as Darth Geek in Episode 7 (three years from now).

13. Where were you last night?
In an alternate universe. I think I was a Sith.

14. What you’re not?
Sane. I have three little monsters that like to torment me.

15. One of your wish-list items?
Porsche. On a more realistic side, a nice digital SLR camera with a zoom lens.

16. Where you grew up?
Portland, Oregon USA, but I was born in a galaxy far, far away. My biological parents sent me to earth in a spaceship just before my home planet exploded.

17. The last thing you did?
Put pants back on my son. After I tucked him in, he took off his pants and underwear, then fell asleep half naked without any blankets. Might be OK in the summer, but too cool for autumn.

18. What are you wearing?
Shorts, t-shirt, and a tiara.

19. Your TV?
A 25″ Sharp TV. My godmother/aunt gave it to me almost 11 years ago.

20. Your pets?
None. Unless my wife counts. If not, I would like to get some fishes. Oops, I think I just compared my wife to a fish.

21. Your computer?
It sings lullabies to me every night.

22. Your mood?
Not sure. I have to consult my mood ring.

23. Missing someone?
My mom (Alzheimer’s) and cousin (died before she turned 30).

24. Your car?
1998 Toyota Camry in the daytime and the Batmobile at night.

25. Something you’re not wearing?
A Halloween costume. I love Halloween, but I have yet to find a costume I would love to wear.

26. Favorite store?
I like Fry’s Electronics, but they are too far away (50+ miles round trip).

27. Your summer?
Missing it already. Wish it could be late summer year round.

28. Love someone?
My wife and kids (most of the time).

29. Your favorite color?
Not sure I have a favorite color. Probably depends on my mood, which depends on my mood ring.

30. When was the last time you laughed?
That would be every day. I have three young kids and I make them entertain me.

31. Last time you cried?
Never. I’m a man. Plus I don’t have any tear ducts. Men don’t need them.
