Theodore Boone: Kid Lawyer by John Grisham – Boring for Parents
When I heard John Grisham was writing a book for kids, I was a bit excited. Grisham is one of my favorite author and I was looking forward to introducing the Little Princess to the world of the legal thriller. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with Theodore Boone: Kid Lawyer. I thought the 263-page novel was way too simplistic. Yes, I know, the book is intended for children ages 9-12. But I think the plot can be a little more complex than thirteen-year old Theodore Boone trying to figure out what to do about an unknown witness for a murder case. Theodore Boone has to decide if he should keep his promise of remaining silent, which would result in the killer going free, or informing the judge about the witness, which would get the witness in legal trouble for something not related to the murder.

Dove Men+Care Giveaway
Because I'm so manly, the people over at Dove asked me to review their Dove Men+Care comfort pack on my dad blog. I declined, but not because I don't think highly of their products. I happen to think Dove makes great products. I use their Dove soap daily for my sensitive skin (have I ever mentioned that three of my kids have sensitive skin just like me — you're welcome kids). The reason I declined is because I have no idea how I would write a review of their men's body and face wash. Do I lather up half of my body with Dove and the other half with product X, and then compare the products? I don't think so. Instead of a review, I'm giving away a Dove comfort pack (body and face wash, body and face bar, and an active clean shower tool) to a manly dad.
SoundSpa Lullaby Review
HoMedics sent me a SoundSpa Lullaby for review. I love it. My wife loves it. Even the little one likes it. The SoundSpa Lullaby is a device for soothing babies, toddlers, and dads (I'm serious, the SoundSpa Lullaby can help parents fall asleep too). It's a combination mobile and sound machine. But instead of an actual mobile, the SoundSpa Lullaby projects the rotating images on a ceiling or wall. My wife and I bought a motorized mobile before. We hated it. The motor was too loud and annoyed the heck out of us. The baby didn't like it either and we eventually returned it. The SoundSpa Lullaby, on the other hand, is whisper quiet when the audio is off (separate on/off switches for audio and projector).

T-Mobile is running a special Father's Day promotion this Saturday (June 19, 2010). Dads and moms who sign-up for a family plan can get two free smartphones of their choice. Yeah, I know, wireless providers offer free cell phones all the time. But those free mobiles phones are usually the less expensive, older models. In the T-Mobile Father's Day promotion, dads and moms can get ANY PHONE in the T-Mobile store for FREE — like the new myTouch 3G Slide ($430 without contract or $180 with contract), the new HTC HD2 ($450 without contract or $200 with contract), and the new Garminfone ($450 without contract or $200 with contract). Too bad T-Mobile is not allowed to sell iPhones (yet?).

HP ePrint – if you can email it, you can print it
Last week, HP announced their new ePrint technology. With the ePrint platform, geek dads and moms can print a photo or document by sending an email to a web-enabled printer. You read that right. You can email your document to your printer. Cool. It seems like it wasn't that long ago when dads and moms could only print to the printer attached to their computer. Now the printer doesn't even have to be on the same network. The pace of technology is amazing, isn't it? I can't wait until the day I can email myself to another location (just think, Star Trek would not have been the same if Captain Kirk could've just emailed himself back to the Enterprise).
I think the new ePrint platform is something dads and moms will like for several reasons. First, if you can email it, you can print it. Second, you don't have to install drivers or configure your printer for the network. Third, you don't even need a computer to print a file. Now, dads and moms can print directly from their web-connected device (smartphone, iPad, netbook, etc) to any ePrint-enabled printer.
