Looks like it’s another slow week for new releases. New DVDs and Blu-rays this week include Jason Bourne (review), Secret Life of Pets (review | giveaway), and Lego Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures (animated). I’ve seen Jason Bourne and Secret Life of Pets. They are both excellent. My kids also can’t wait to see the new Lego Star Wars film. There’s a new Mickey Mouse Clubhouse coming out on DVD. It’s called Mickey’s Sport-Y-Thon. The DVD features six episodes (over 2 hours). In the episodes, Disney characters compete in various sports activities. In the process they learn about teamwork and sportsmanship. And for a limited time, the DVD includes a Golden Mickey Medal. Neat, right? My kids and I watched it over the weekend. We enjoyed it — especially my youngest child (age seven). Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: Mickey’s Sport-Y-Thon is available now on DVD.

Keanu Can’t Defeat Jungle Book and Huntsman at the Box Office

Mowgli remained in first place at the box office. Over the weekend, The Jungle Book grossed another $43.7 million. The Huntsman: Winter’s War barely remained in second place with $9.6 million. Joy Blu-ray Sweepstakes

Jennifer Lawrence has a new movie coming out soon on Digital HD, Blu-ray, 4K Ultra HD and DVD. Her film is called Joy. The film is a dynamic story of a family across four generations, and the woman who would go from dysfunction to dynasty because of it. I have not seen it yet, but I’ve heard it’s good. According to the press material, Joy is a great film for girls night in, mother/daughter movie night, or a date night away from the kids. Thanks to Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment, I’m giving away the Joy Blu-ray on my dad blog. Joy will be available in Digital HD on Friday (April 8th), and on Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD on May 3th — just in time for Mother’s Day.

Chevy Shop Social: Portland to Raise Money for Doernbecher Children’s Hospital

Guess what I will be doing in the next five days? If you guessed trying out for the Portland Trail Blazers then you would be wrong. I’m too short and not particularly athletic. At least not anymore. But I am taking part in a special fund-raiser event for Doernbecher Children’s Hospital Foundation. For five days, I will be driving around in a new Chevy Equinox (this is a fabulous SUV) while shopping around the city for awesome items to be raffled off in the Chevy Shop Social: Portland. The special event will take place in Pioneer Square on May 21st (6pm to 8:30 pm).
