Ballers Season 2 - HBO

HBO is releasing season two of Ballers on Blu-ray and DVD next week. Ballers is about a former football player who now works as a money manager for football players. I love this series. It has a football feel, yet it rarely show athletes playing football. Ballers is more about the characters instead of the game of football. The characters grow on you and you become vested in their lives. Ballers: S2 is available now on digital HD, and will be available on Blu-ray and DVD on January 31st. Note: the series is rated TV-MA for nudity and sex scenes.

Terrell Suggs, Ndamukong Suh and Sean Payton Make Guest Appearances

Dwayne Johnson returns as the main character, Spencer Strasmore. He’s a money manager for athletes. I’m not sure why the Rock wants to do a TV series, but he’s excellent in Ballers. In fact, he has been nominated for Outstanding Actor in a comedy series. Other cast members include John David Washington (Ricky Jerret), Omar Benson Miller (Charles Greane), Donovan W. Carter (Vernon Littlefield), Troy Garity (Jason), Jazmyn Simon (Julie Greane), Rob Corddry (Joe), London Brown (Reggie), Arielle Kebbel (Tracy Legette), DulĂ© Hill (Larry Siefert), Richard Schiff (Mr. Anderson), and Robert Wisdom (Dennis Jerret, Ricky’s estranged father). In addition, Terrell Suggs, Ndamukong Suh and Sean Payton made guest appearances in season two.

What’s Happening in Season Two

In season one of Ballers, Spencer was a golden boy. But in season, Spencer makes questionable decisions and is in the hot seat as a result. In addition, Spencer’s past catches up to him and puts his new career in jeopardy. To make matter worst, Spencer appears to be hooked on pain killers. One of Spencer’s clients, Vernon, also gets injured in a non-football related injury. As a result, his big contract might get voided. But even though Spencer is under the gun, he still has the patience to give his clients good advice. Meanwhile, Ricky is looking for a new team after the Dolphins low-ball him. Oh yeah, I also forgot to mention that Charles makes a career change (again).

Ballers: Season 2 Episodes

In addition to the episodes, the Blu-ray and DVD includes “Inside the Episode” bonus segments that give the play-by-play on all 10 episodes, featuring interviews with executive producer Evan Reilly, star Dwayne Johnson and more. DVD and Blu-ray versions also include a Digital Download.

About Ballers Season Two

In Season 2 of Ballers, things are getting more competitive and complicated for retired football star turned financial manager Spencer Strasmore. As the lines between professional and personal blur in his pursuit of lasting success and glory, Spencer must face demons from the past when he goes head-to-head with the biggest business manager on the scene. Meanwhile, Spencer’s closest friends and clients struggle to find their footing. A humbled Ricky (John David Washington, former pro-football player) explores his options as a free agent, while getting to know the father who left him behind; Charles (Omar Miller) tries to balance a new baby and his future in the game; and Vernon (Donovan Carter) deals with the consequences of his life off the field. Returning to help Spencer juggle lucrative deals and big personalities are his outrageous business partner, Joe (Rob Corddry), level-headed agent, Jason (Troy Garity) and girlfriend/sports reporter, Tracy (Arielle Kebbel). In a business where it’s go big or go home, Spencer and his crew are about to learn that having it all means being ready to fight for more dollars, deals and respect.
