The Other Side Of The Door is a horror story about a mom that opened a door to the dead in order to talk to her deceased son. The movie isn’t super scary, but the dramatic music and sudden jolts will startle you from time to time. And some of the scenes are creepy and bloody enough to make your skin tingle. The Other Side Of The Door is available now on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD — just in time for Father’s Day.
The Other Side Of The Door Story
The story takes place in Mumbai, India. Maria tells her husband she is pregnant and wishes they could stay in India. Her husband, an antique collector, tells her they can. The story then flashes forward six years. The couple has two children, but one of them dies when their car falls into a river. Maria has daily nightmares about the death of her son (Oliver) because she couldn’t get him out of the car in time to save him. Maria is so devastated that her servant tells her about an abandoned temple. All she has to do is spread the ashes of her son at the temple, then she’ll be able to say her final goodbye to her son before he departs for the after-life. But she must not open the door under any circumstances. Naturally, she opens the door when her son tells her to open it. I think we all would if we heard a loved one pleading for us to open the door. But there are consequences for opening the temple’s door.
The temple’s door is essentially a portal between the living and the dead. When Maria opened the door, her son’s spirit came through. At first, Oliver acts like the cute and adorable son Maria remembers. But we soon see he’s different. The Oliver that came back is evil and creepy. And as the story progress, he becomes violent and scary. In fact, he’s sinister enough to earn an R rating for the film.

Sarah Wayne Callies is the star of The Other Side Of The Door. Some of you may remember her from The Walking Dead series. In this film, she played the part of Maria, the mom who lost her son and the one who opened the door. I thought she did a good job even though her character sometimes made stupid decisions. Other cast members include Jeremy Sisto (Michael), Sofia Rosinsky (Lucy), Logan Creran (Oliver), Suchitra Pillai (Piki), Javier Botet (Myrtu), Shoa Hussain (Doctor), Mishti Bangera (Anushka), Amarjeet Singh (Aghori), Rahil Gilani (Aghori), Ashok Choudhary (Aghori), Anup Kumar Sharma (Aghori), Vijay Saini (Aghori), Manoj Prajapati (Aghori), and Vijay Gupta (Aghori). The Other Side Of The Door was directed by Johannes Roberts.
