My kids and I recently watched Against the Wild 2: Survive the Serengeti. The movie is about two children using all their skills to survive in the African bush after their plane crashes. Against the Wild 2 is a film the entire family can watch together (it’s rated PG). It’s not a comedy or packed with a lot of action, but it does have some suspense and you can’t help but root for the kids in the story. Against The Wild 2 (Anchor Bay Entertainment) is available now on digital HD, and will be available on DVD on May 10th.
In Against the Wild 2, two kids are flying to see their parents. But then their plane crashes in the Serengeti. The pilot is injured, so the kids decide to head for the mines to get help. Unfortunately, the mines are a lot farther away than they thought. As a result, the two children have to learn how to survive on their own until they can find help. To matters worst, a lion is stalking the kids.
It’s Not a Sequel
Survive the Serengeti is the second film in the Against the Wild series. You don’t have to see the first movie first. I have not seen the first movie, but I don’t think the two movies are related. The survival storyline is similar, but the characters are different in the two movies.
There’s a Borg in the Cast
The stars of the movie are Ella Ballentine and John Paul Ruttan. They played the part of the lost kids, Emma and Ryan Croft. The kid actors were not spectacular, but they weren’t bad either. Jeri Ryan is also in the movie. The former Borg from Star Trek played the part of Jennifer Croft (the worried mom). Other cast members include Hlomla Dandala (Colonel Ibori), Ashley Dowds (Paul Croft), Litha Mbutuma (cargo handler), Mandla Shongwe (Mandla), and Chova Chishuru Three (Rumba). Against the Wild 2 was directed by Richard Boddington.
