I saw the new Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice last night. I thought it was awesome, but some people might not like it because it’s not a fun film. The movie is essentially a long drama (153 minutes) with superheroes as the main characters. Most of the action is at the end of the story and there isn’t any humor like you see in the Marvel movies. Batman vs Superman (DC Comics) is just a good drama. In other words, it’s like the last three Batman movies. One word of advice, you should see this PG-13 rated film as soon as possible before someone ruins the surprise ending for you. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (Warner Bros) opens in theaters Thursday evening. Continue reading to learn six things about the movie.
6 Things About Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice
Completely Unexpected Ending
I’m going to start with the ending because it will blow you away. Don’t worry, I’m not going to spoil it for you. But the ending is a shocker. I did not see it coming even though it is one of the many storylines I read in the comic books in the past. As I said before, you should watch Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice before someone opens their big mouth. I don’t think the ending will remain a secret for long.
Who Will Win?
As the title suggest, Batman and Superman fight each other in the film. Superman thinks Batman is a vicious vigilante that needs to be stopped. Bruce, on the other hand, thinks Superman is an alien with the power to destroy the entire human race if he wanted to. He thinks Superman has too much power and someone needs to do something about that. And thanks to the manipulation of Lex Luthor, the two superheroes eventually battle it out. To even things out, Batman has outfitted himself with super-armor and he also has Kryptonite, which can weaken and even kill Kryptonians like Superman.
Dawn of the Justice League
Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman are considered the Trinity of DC superheroes. As expected, all three of them are in the movie. But there is a reason why this film is called Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice. The last part hints at the upcoming Justice League movies in 2017 and 2019. With that in mind, three other Justice League members make cameos in the Superman-Batman movie.
Batman and Bruce Wayne are Zombies
In the last Batman movie, both Batman and Bruce Wayne were killed off. OK, they didn’t really die. But they both had funerals and everyone except for a handful of people think Batman and Bruce Wayne are dead. Yet, both are alive and well in the new Batman vs Superman movie. You can’t really make this movie without them, but no explanation was ever given about how they came back to life. As far as the public know, Batman and Bruce Wayne could be zombies. BTW, zombie superheroes was a storyline in the comic books.
Lex Luthor is the New Joker
If you’re read Superman comic books, then you know Lex Luthor is Superman’s main nemesis. He’s also bald, rich and super smart. In the film, Lex is rich and super smart, but he he has long hair and acts crazy. In fact, he seems more like the Joker than the Luthor most of know. Personally, I didn’t like this new version of Lex Luthor.
Daredevil is Now Batman
It’s true. Ben Affleck, who use to be Daredevil, is the new Batman. Makes perfect sense since Ryan Reynolds was Deadpool in a Wolverine movie, then he became Green Lantern, and is now Deadpool again. A lot of people didn’t like the idea of Ben Affleck as Batman. I didn’t have a problem with it because Batman speaks in monotone and doesn’t exactly show a lot of emotion, which is the type of characters Affleck seems to play most of the time. But after watching the film, I think Affleck is a better Bruce Wayne than he is a Batman. I didn’t really like him as Batman. His extra muscular bat costume didn’t help either. The suit makes Batman look a little chubby. Other cast members include Henry Cavill (Clark Kent / Superman), Gal Gadot (Diana Prince / Wonder Woman), Amy Adams (Lois), Jesse Eisenberg (Lex Luthor), Diane Lane (Martha Kent), Laurence Fishburne (Perry White), Jeremy Irons (Alfred), Holly Hunter (Senator Finch), Scoot McNairy (Wallace Keefe), Callan Mulvey (Anatoli Knyazev), Tao Okamoto (Mercy Graves), Brandon Spink (young Bruce Wayne), and Lauren Cohan (Martha Wayne). Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice was directed by Zack Snyder.
Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice Synopsis
It’s been nearly two years since Superman’s (Henry Cavill) colossal battle with Zod (Michael Shannon) devastated the city of Metropolis. The loss of life and collateral damage left many feeling angry and helpless, including crime-fighting billionaire Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck). Convinced that Superman is now a threat to humanity, Batman embarks on a personal vendetta to end his reign on Earth, while the conniving Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg) launches his own crusade against the Man of Steel.
