The kids and I finally saw the new Peanuts movie. We missed it at the theater last year, so we were really looking forward to seeing the new animated film from Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment. The wait was worth it. We loved it! My children have never seen the Peanuts specials on TV, and it’s been many years since I saw one too. The new movie is pretty much how I remembered the classic show. It has the same style as the old specials. And more importantly, the characters are as loveable as ever. The Peanuts Movie is available now on Digital HD, Blu-ray and DVD. BTW, for a limited time, you can get the limited edition gift set that includes a Snoopy Flying Ace plushie toy. Note: I received a movie for review on my dad blog.
Charlie Brown and the Red-hair Girl
As expected, the new Peanuts movie centers around Charlie Brown. In this story, he falls in love with the new red-hair girl at school. But he’s Charlie Brown. He can’t just go up and talk to her like a normal person. Instead, he freaks out every time he’s near her. But Charlie Brown really likes her, so he comes up with a plan to win a medal or contest. Obviously, if he did that, the red-hair girl will fall for him too. But like many of the old stories about Charlie Brown, bad luck seems to follow him around. The main story is both charming and funny at the same time.
Snoopy vs the Red Baron
Another storyline in the animated film involves Snoopy and his attempts to defeat the Red Baron. Big surprise, time after time, Snoopy fails. But you can’t help but smile at his attempts. Snoopy has an adorableness that seems to transcend time and his antics bring back fond memories of the old Charlie Brown shows. I think this is what makes this movie so awesome. The humor and cuteness will be a big hit with kids. But adults will love how the scenes take them back to their childhood.
