About Everest

Following a pair of expeditions to the highest point — and most dangerous place — on Earth, Everest captures the brutal majesty of the deadly peak, and the boundless courage required to conquer it, with breathtaking cinematography and spectacular storytelling. Exclusive extras make Everest a can’t-miss, must-own event, bringing viewers behind-the-scenes for a look at the making of the film, as well as astonishing insights about the real-life 1996 summit attempt that inspired it.

Inspired by the incredible events surrounding an attempt to reach the summit of the world’s highest mountain, Everest documents the awe-inspiring journey of two different expeditions challenged beyond their limits by one of the fiercest snowstorms ever encountered by mankind. Their mettle tested by the harshest elements found on the planet, the climbers will face nearly impossible obstacles as a lifelong obsession becomes a breathtaking struggle for survival.

Jake Gyllenhaal (Southpaw, Brokeback Mountain), Keira Knightley (The Imitation Game, Pirates of the Caribbean), Jason Clarke (Zero Dark Thirty, The Great Gatsby), Josh Brolin (Sicario, No Country for Old Men), John Hawkes (Winter’s Bone, The Sessions), Robin Wright (House of Cards, Forrest Gump), Michael Kelly (House of Cards, Viral), Sam Worthington (Avatar, Clash of the Titans) and Emily Watson (The Theory of Everything, Breaking the Waves) star in a thrilling and harrowing battle against the overwhelming power of nature.

  1. I am not into climbing at all, but if I was-Mt. Everest for sure. May as well go for the biggest if you are going to do it!!

  2. I’m thinking I don’t have the physical or mental fortitude to climb any mountain but I would love to see in person Mount Everest. Maybe I could get part of the way up. I’m sure the photos of Mount Everest don’t do justice to seeing it in person.

  3. I have a huge fear of dying and me climbing anything bigger then stairs is just asking for it. So no mountain is one I’d climb.

  4. What mountain would I climb if I could? I I would love to climb Mount St. Helens if I could. I’m fascinated with volcanoes and would love to see something interesting up there maybe lava or steam as long as it doesn’t get close to me. Lol

  5. What mountain would you climb if you could?
Mount Meru … so I could achieve one of the most coveted prizes in the high stakes game of Himalayan wall climbing!

  6. If I could, I would like to climb Mount Cook, located on New Zealand’s South Island! New Zealand is one of the most beautiful places on our planet!

  7. Whenever I think of climbing mountains, I think of the Grand Tetons near Jenny Lake in Wyoming (by Yellowstone). Something that has always stuck with me since I was a kid. It is awe inspiring.

  8. I did good just climbing Pinnacle Point (one of the largest mountains in Arkansas) I have “aged” not think I would do perfect now. Thank you

  9. I started the climb of Mt Hood years ago. The views were so breathtaking. I would so love to go back to visit it and climb all the way to the top! Thank-you for a great #giveaway :)

  10. While Everest would be the obvious choice if I could, I think I would rather climb Denali. I have always wanted to go to Alaska.

  11. If i could and was able to, i would absolutely climb Mt. Everest. I have always admired the mountain and it’s massive height.

  12. I would climb Mt. Hood if I was in excellent shape! I can’t even imagine how incredibly beautiful the sights would be from the top!

  13. I would want to climb Mt Kilimanjaro, in Tanzania, because it takes you through six ecological zones; from grasslands, then rainforest, and an alpine desert, to the artic-like summit! That would be my fantasy climb, if I were able, but in the mean time I can dream and watch every Everest movie made! Thank you!

  14. I’m looking forward to climb Mt. Kahtadin in Maine. I’ve almost completed the Appalachian Trail and that mountain would complete it for me.

  15. I would climb Mount Denali, formerly Mount McKinley. Only because I’m too scared to go to another country with bigger mountains after seeing news articles about tourists being kidnapped or worse :(

  16. I’d like to climb as high as I can manage on Everest, just to experience being there, and to see the setting in person; no chance I’d summit.

  17. If I could climb any mountain, I would choose to climb Mt. Rainier. I grew up watching it peek out over the clouds and would love the chance to go up it.
