My family and I watched Home recently. DreamWorks Animation and Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment sent me the Blu-ray for review on my dad blog. We loved the film. In fact, we watched it three times already. Home is funny and there’s plenty of action. It’s not the best animated movie ever, but I think both parents and children will enjoy the film. Home is available now on Blu-ray and DVD. Continue reading to learn six things about the movie.
Six Things About the Home Movie
It’s the story of aliens called Boovs
The main character is Oh. He’s a Boov, which is an alien race that runs away from danger. They are being hunted by another alien race called the Gorg. The Boovs scare easily so they flee to Earth and relocate the humans to Human Happy Town. But then Oh accidentally sends a party invite to their enemy. Meanwhile, a girl named Tip is trying to find her mother. Oh, while running away from his mistake, meets up with Tip. At first they don’t really get along, but eventually they become good friends.
The Boovs can change color
The Boovs change color depending on their emotion. For instance, they turn red when the are angry, orange when they’re surprised, yellow when they’re scared, green when they’re lying and blue when they’re sad.
Home features Rihanna and Jennifer Lopez
Jim Parsons is the voice talent behind the main character, Oh. Home also features the voices of Rihanna and Jennifer Lopez. Rihanna was the voice of Gratuity ‘Tip’ Tucci. J-Lo provided the voice for Lucy (Tip’s mom). Other voice talents include Steve Martin (Captain Smek), Matt Jones (Kyle), Brian Stepanek (Brian / Borg), Nigel W. Tierney (child), and April Winchell (Toni). The movie was directed by Tim Johnson.
The animated movie is rated PG
The 94-minute movie is rated PG for mild action and some rude humor. The animated film is fine for all children. There wasn’t anything inappropriate. However, some of the action scenes might be mildly intense for very young children.
