A new pizza restaurant opened up in our area. It’s call Pieology. They invited us to a tour and dinner. The pizzas were delicious and quick. One of the things my family enjoyed about the experience is that we could create custom pies and we could actually see them making our pizzas. We also loved the stone fired oven that can bake the pizza in less than three minutes. BTW, Pieology is located in 11 states. If you’re lucky enough to have a Pieology in your city, now’s your chance to win a $40 gift card on my dad blog. Awesome, right?
When you enter a Pieology restaurant, one of the first things you will notice is that it’s a little like a Subway. At the glass counter, you can see all the fresh ingredients they use to make your custom pizza. The first step starts with the sauce. You have a choice of:
- Red sauce
- 3-cheese Alfredo
- Herb butter
- Olive oil
- Fiery buffalo sauce
- BBQ sauce
The next step is selecting the cheeses:
- Daiya mozzarella
The third step is choosing the meats:
- All-natural chicken
- Spicy all-natural chicken
The final step is selecting additional toppings:
- Black olives
- Red onions
- Green peppers
- Kalamata olives
- Fresh cilantro
- Banana peppers
- Fresh basil
As you go through each step, you can see the staff making your own pizza — right up to when they place your pizza in their stone oven. According to the staff, the temperature is almost 600 degrees at the bottom and about a 1000 degrees at the top of the oven. That’s why they can cook a pizza in less than three minutes. Here’s a secret they shared with me, the dough is actually pre-cooked when it is flatten in their special machine when you place your order. The cooking is a two-step process!
As I mentioned previously, the pizzas were quick and delicious. I plan on going back the next time I’m in the area. I love pizza and I especially love the thin-crust pizzas at Pieology. BTW, Pieology also offers glutten-free and vegan options for a small fee ($2). I also want to mention there is only one size: 11.5″. It’s small and feeds about two people. On the positive side, you can get unlimited toppings for less than $8. Great deal, right?
Thanks to Pieology, a reader of my dad blog will win a $40 gift card. The deadline to enter the contest is Friday, May 1st (Eastern time). The contest is limited to readers in the USA.
