Transformers Cybertron: The Complete Series

Shout! Factory and Hasbro Studios sent me the upcoming Transformers Cybertron: The Complete Series DVD set for review on my dad blog. The DVD set includes all 52 episodes of the series on seven discs. The DVD set is a staggering 1180 minutes long. The box set will keep the kids busy all summer long if you let them. But that would be crazy. My suggestion is to limit the kids to a few episodes a day. Otherwise your Transformers-loving children will turn into sofa zombies. That wouldn’t be good. Not good at all. Transformers Cybertron: The Complete Series will be available on August 5, 2014. It has a list price of $44.99, but you can currently purchase it on Amazon for $34.99.

Transformers: Cybertron is the final installment of the Unicron trilogy. The other two parts were Transformers: Armada and Transformers: Energon. The Unicron trilogy is on a separate timeline than the other Transformers animated and live-action series. In the Unicron trilogy, a black hole threatens the planet Cybertron, home world of the Transformers. As a result, the transformers evacuated to Earth, and take the forms of local vehicles and machinery to hide from humanity. The back and forth stories on Earth and Cybertron were a little confusing for me because I have not seen most of the Armada and Energon episodes.

While on Earth, the Autobots are befriend by three human children named Coby, Bud and Lori. The children help the Autobots find the Omega Lock, which is a focusing device for the Cyber Planet Key’s power. The Cyber Planet Keys are four mystical items that are needed to stop the black hole that is threatening the universe. And as expected, the Decepticons also want the keys so they can use the power for their own selfish purposes.

The kids and I have only seen a few episodes so far. As I mentioned earlier, we didn’t really see Armada and Energon series. As a result, the Cybertron series was a little confusing at times because we were not familiar with the previous storyline or characters. But after watch a few episodes, I think we’re catching on now.

In summary, Transformers: Cybertron is the type series that is fun to watch if your kids are into Transformers.

Transformers: Cybertron Synopsis

Unicron has been defeated, but his destruction has created a black hole, which is threatening the Autobots’ home world of Cybertron. It’s up to Optimus Prime, his team of heroic Autobots and their new human friends (Coby, Lori and Bud) to secure the four mystical Cyber Planet Keys, in order to destroy the black hole. Unfortunately, Megatron and the Decepticons are always lurking. And if the Cyber Planet Keys fall into their hands, it could mean the end of life as we know it. The race is on.

  1. The Transformer figures and story lines are fascinating for children. The grandboys like to “design” transformers.
