We recently had a Frito-Lay and Skylanders party at our house. Actually, we had two parties. The first party involved only our family — my wife, my two sons, my youngest daughter and myself. My oldest daughter didn’t join us because she’s a teenager, and teenagers are too cool to hang out with the family. Our second party was mainly for my oldest son and his fifth-grade buddies. Everyone at both parties had fun. Before I tell you more about our fabulous parties, I want to let everyone know the winner of the Frito-Lay and Skylanders Giveaway on my dad blog is Kristie Newton.
Frito-Lay helped us out by sending us some nifty stuff for the party — like table cloth, cups, utensils, plates, Skylanders merchandise, and a variety pack of chips. BTW, each specially marked Frito-Lay Classic Mix and Flavor Mix 20-count variety packs includes a $10-off coupon for Skylanders SWAP ForceTM Starter Packs. That’s a good deal because you not only get some great tasting chips, you also get a discount off of the awesome Skylanders video game.
Frito-Lay also gave us a gift card to purchase food for our parties. For our family lunch party, we bought hot dogs, Doritos chips (Cool Ranch and Nacho Cheese) and some Pepsi products. For the dinner party with the boys, we had pizza, a variety of Frito-Lay chips, and Pepsi.
As you can see in the photos sprinkled throughout this blog post, we had a good time playing Skylanders. Actually, the kids had fun playing Skylanders while my wife and I mainly watched. I asked my son to teach me how to play, but he cheats. I don’t know anything about Skylanders, so I asked my son to pick a character for me. When we were in battle mode, he won every game by a landslide. When I asked him if he picked a weak character for me, my son started laughing hysterically. I knew it. The brat cheats.
The dinner party for the boys was a lot of fun too. Funny thing is, I felt like I was in a foreign land when they were playing Skylanders. They talked about things like characters, power levels, powers, tricks and legendary versions. All over my head. They appeared to be speaking English, but I didn’t really understand what they were saying. One thing I did understand was that all the boys were excite about the upcoming Skylanders Trap TeamTM game, which will be launched in North America on October 5, 2014.
The Frito-Lay and Skylanders Choose and Name a New Hero contest is over. I hope you voted for your favorite character for the upcoming Skylanders Trap TeamTM video game. The character receiving the most votes will become a new Skylanders hero for the Skylanders Trap TeamTM. In addition, the finalist receiving the most eligible fan votes will be awarded a $100,000 scholarship. Here are the three finalists fans could have voted for:
A witch tasked with saving the underworld from trolls to prove worthy of joining the Skylanders heroes. Submitted by Kimberly Josey from Charlotte, N.C.
Imagined as half-dolphin and half-shipwreck, unlike any Skylanders the world has ever seen. Submitted by Noel Foster from Clearwater, Florida.
The fifth son of the Royal High Flying Dragonflies. Famous for his great speed, this hero can fly higher and faster than any other dragonfly in Skylanders. Submitted by Phylicia Nakamoto from Elk Grove, California.
In summary, everyone had a good time at our Frito-Lay and Skylanders parties. The kids had fun playing Skylanders and everyone enjoyed the food. We can’t wait to see who fans selected to become the newest member of the Skylanders Trap TeamTM. Stay tuned for my upcoming posts where I’ll be sharing more exciting news from Frito-Lay. Don’t miss out!
