Mother’s Day is next Sunday so I thought I would share some gift ideas today. If the mom in your life is into gadgets, think about getting her an Amazon Fire TV, Kindle Fire HDX or Kindle Paperwhite. Fire TV is a small box that plugs into a TV and gives moms access to content from Netflix, Showtime, Hulu Plus and other media providers (including video on demand and video games). It’s a great gift for moms who are into entertainment. For moms who are into reading, there’s the Kindle Paperwhite. The e-reader is small, but it can hold up to 1,100 books (not including free cloud storage). For moms who love books, surfing the web, playing games, and watching movies, there’s the Kindle Fire HDX. The device is a tablet that lets moms do it all. Not only will the Kindle Fire HDX entertain moms, the tablet can also act as a babysitter via the Kindle FreeTime feature that lets moms create customized profiles for children. With FreeTime, mothers can set daily screen limits and give access to appropriate content for their kids. Continue reading for other Mother’s Day gift ideas.
Dead Witch Walking is book one of Kim Harrison’s Hallows series. It’s a great read for moms who love stories about the supernatural. The Hollows series (also called the Rachel Morgan series) is told in the first-person point-of-view of Rachel Morgan, a detective witch who works with local law enforcement agencies and faces threats both mundane and supernatural in origin (like witches, vampires, werewolves, demons and elves). The series also focuses on Rachel’s relationships with her partners, a living vampire and a pixy, as well as her personal relationships with males of different species. The books take place in an alternate timeline of Earth. In this timeline, magical and supernatural species live openly with the regular population.
If the book-loving mom in your life is in the mood for romance, it’s hard to go wrong with a Nicholas Sparks novel. Some titles of interest include A Walk to Remember, The Notebook and Message in a Bottle.
