New Girl: The Complete Second Season - Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment

I’m a fan of New Girl, which stars Zooey Deschanel (remember her in Elf and 500 Days of Summer?). The third season just started, but I missed a few episodes from last season. Fortunately, Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment sent me the second season DVD set for review on my blog. Now I can catch up on the episodes I missed in season two. If you have not seen the show, you should. It’s very funny. BTW, New Girl: The Complete Second Season is available now on DVD. It has a list price of $40, but you can currently purchase it on Amazon for about $23.

For those of you who have not see New Girl, let me tell you a little bit about the hit TV comedy series. New Girl is about a group of five friends: Jess (Zooey Deschanel), Nick (Jake Johnson), Schmidt (Max Greenfield), Winston (Lamorne Morris) and Cece (Hannah Simone). Jess, Nick, Schmidt, and Winston are roommates. With the exception of Schmidt, the roommates don’t make much money. Cece is a model and Jess’ best friend. She’s also Schmidt’s love interest on the show, but like many couples, they have an up and down relationship.

In season two of New Girl, Jess and Nick are drawn to each other romantically. Unfortunately, Jess is already in a steady relationship with a doctor and Nick is also in a relationship. Plus hooking up with your roommate isn’t a good idea, right?

Meanwhile, Schmidt and Cece break up. Cece has moved on, but Schmidt is still in love with her. He gets jealous of Cece’s boyfriends and tries to get her back in his life. But his attempts backfire. His attempts are actually pretty fun and insane.

Then there is Winston. He’s like the sidekick in the show. Even though Winston knows better, he usually ends up helping his friends do stupid and funny things.

The New Girl Season 2 DVD includes all 25 episodes from last season. The run time is about 546 minutes, but the episodes are spread out over three discs. I love watching New Girl on DVD because there are no commercials. Each episode is about 20 minutes long, which means I don’t have to watch 10 minutes of TV commercials for each show.

In addition to the 25 episodes in season two of New Girl, the DVD set also includes deleted scenes, Cooler (commentary), Full of Schmidt, gag reel (very funny), and extended version of the Virgins episode.
