Moose Toys sent me some of their new Gelarti arts and crafts products for review and giveaway on my dad blog. Gelarti is essentially peel and stick stickers that your kids paint themselves (the stickers, not their bodies). The paint come in the form of squeezable pens. Thanks to the caps, you don’t have to use all the paint in a single session. Nice, right? I hate it when the kids have leftover paint that can’t be used at a later time.
I love the concept behind Gelarti. Just paint and decorate the stickers. Wait for the stickers to dry. Then stick them on notebooks, lockers and just about any accessory. My kids love the arts and crafts products. The stickers are easy and fun to paint. And the kids like using the stickers to decorate their school supplies and personal items. Gelarti is a great back-to-school item for children.
My kids love Gelarti, but I have a couple of tips for parents. First, you have to wait at least six hours for the paint to dry. My advice to parents is start the activity after dinner and then let the stickers dry over night. My second tip is to tell your children to apply a thin layer of paint. The first time my kids applied paint to the stickers, they squeezed out too much paint. You don’t need a apply a lot of paint to the stickers. It’s a waste and extra thick paint increases the dry time.
There are a variety of Gelarti products. Here are the products that were sent to me for review on my dad blog:
Forest Creatures Scene Pack
This Gelarti product is essentially a starter pack. It includes three paint pens and over 20 stickers. As you can tell by the name, the stickers has a forest theme to it (fox, deer, tree, squirrel, berries, etc). According to the product literature, there are also themes for aloha, cake shop, gumball fun and monster party. Scene packs retail for $9.99.
Enchanted Forest Designer Series
This is my favorite Gelarti product. Go ahead, ask me why. Thank you for asking. It’s my favorite because the paint glows in the dark! Awesome, right? The product features four glow in the dark paint pens and over 25 stickers (owl, moon, frog, fox, mushrooms, stars, etc). BTW, I didn’t time it, but the paint glows for about 30 minutes. The retail price is $12.99.
Fashion Puppies Designer Series
This product is similar to the Enchanted Forest product. The big difference is that Fashion Puppies includes glitter paint instead glow in the dark paint. As you can tell by its name, Fashion Puppies features stickers of dogs and fashion accessories for dogs. The product retails for $12.99.
As you can guess from its name, this product features more than just stickers. In addition to five paint pens and over 50 stickers, the activity pack includes an activity book, card, two bag tags and ribbons, and a marbling tool. There is a variety of stickers in this pack — such as a chick, butterfly, flower, star, heart, etc). The retail price of $14.99 is only $2 more than the Designer Series.
This is Gelarti’s top of line product. It includes a store and go designer studio (carrying case), four paint pens, over 30 stickers, gem pieces, and a marbling tool. The gem pieces are for accessorizing your stickers. BTW, the designer studio allows your child to rotate the sticker without touching the sticker sheet. From what I could tell, it’s more fun than useful. The design studio features stickers of trees, sunflowers, birds, dogs, etc). The product retails for $19.99.
