New Movies for the Week of February 15, 2013 – A Good Day to Die Hard, Escape From Planet Earth
Did everyone have a great Valentine’s Day? My wife had to work last night so we just had a quick dinner at home. Anyway, there are several good movies out this weekend. New releases include Beautiful Creatures (Jeremy Irons), A Good Day to Die Hard (Bruce Willis), Escape From Planet Earth (Brendan Fraser), and Safe Haven (Josh Duhamel). My youngest kids want to see Escape From Planet Earth, my oldest daughter likes Beautiful Creatures, my wife would love to see Safe Haven, and I’m a Die Hard fan.

Escape From Planet Earth
In Escape From Planet Earth, astronaut Scorch Supernova finds himself caught in a trap when he responds to an SOS from a notoriously dangerous alien planet. The film features Sarah Jessica Parker, Jessica Alba, Brendan Fraser, William Shatner, Jane Lynch, Craig Robinson, George Lopez, and Rob Corddry.
A Good Day to Die Hard
Bruce Willis is back as iconoclastic, take-no-prisoners cop John McClane, who for the first time finds himself on foreign soil after traveling to Moscow to help his wayward son Jack (Jai Courtney) — unaware that Jack is really a highly-trained CIA operative out to stop a nuclear weapons heist. With the Russian underworld in pursuit, and battling a countdown to war, the two McClanes discover their opposing methods make them unstoppable heroes.
Beautiful Creatures is a supernatural love story adaptated from the first novel in the best-selling series by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl. Ethan Wate (Alden Ehrenreich), 17, has had the same recurring dream for months. A mysterious young girl is waiting for him on a Civil War battlefield. Ethan desperately wants to be with her, but there is an unknown danger-and each time a lightning bolt cracks like a gunshot, killing Ethan before he ever reaches the girl.
An affirming and suspenseful story about a young woman’s struggle to love again, Safe Haven is based on the novel from Nicholas Sparks, the best-selling author behind the hit films The Notebook and Dear John. When a mysterious young woman arrives in a small North Carolina town, her reluctance to join the tight knit community raises questions about her past. Slowly, she begins putting down roots, and gains the courage to start a relationship with Alex, a widowed store owner with two young children. But dark secrets intrude on her new life with such terror that she is forced to rediscover the meaning of sacrifice and rely on the power of love in this deeply moving romantic thriller.
