New Movies for the Week of January 25, 2013

Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters movie

Another work week is almost over. It’s movie time. This week’s film releases include Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, Movie 43, Parker, and John Dies at the End. Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters is the movie my kids and I would like to see. It’s a shame the movie is rated R. The film sounds like a great twist on the classic fairy tale. Hopefully, the movie won’t disappoint.

Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters
After getting a taste for blood as children, Hansel (Jeremy Renner) and Gretel (Gemma Arterton) have become the ultimate vigilantes, hell bent on retribution. Now, unbeknownst to them, Hansel and Gretel have become the hunted, and must face an evil far greater than witches…their past.

Movie 43
From the twisted minds of producers Peter Farrelly (Hall Pass, Shallow Hal) and Charles Wessler (There’s Something About Mary, Dumb & Dumber), comes Movie 43 — the outrageous new ensemble comedy starring some of the biggest names in Hollywood. Movie 43 is not for the easily-offended and contains jaw-dropping, sometimes shockingly disturbing, but always entertaining intertwined storylines you’ll have to see to believe.

Parker (Jason Statham) is a professional thief who lives by a personal code of ethics: Don’t steal from people who can’t afford it and don’t hurt people who don’t deserve it. But on his latest heist, his crew double crosses him, steals his stash, and leaves him for dead. Determined to make sure they regret it, Parker tracks them to Palm Beach, playground of the rich and famous, where the crew is planning their biggest heist ever. Donning the disguise of a rich Texan, Parker takes on an unlikely partner, Leslie (Jennifer Lopez), a savvy insider, who’s short on cash, but big on looks, smarts and ambition. Together, they devise a plan to hijack the score, take everyone down and get away clean.

John Dies at the End
It’s a drug that promises an out-of-body experience with each hit. On the street they call it Soy Sauce, and users drift across time and dimensions. But some who come back are no longer human. Suddenly a silent otherworldly invasion is underway, and mankind needs a hero. What it gets instead is John and David, a pair of college dropouts who can barely hold down jobs. Can these two stop the oncoming horror in time to save humanity? No. No, they can’t.

  1. I’m not sure how Hansel & Gretel will do. It seems that movies like this (for example: Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter) have not been doing very well. Maybe it will break the trend. Also, what is Movie 43 about? I have seen tons of trailers/commercials but really have no idea what it’s actually about. Personally, I’m holding out for the new Die Hard movie!

  2. Oh I am very excited to see Parker! Movie 43 sounds interesting, I might have to catch that one too!!!! I just love reading about what is coming out soon!

  3. Its weird, but I havent saw any advertising for any of these movies. Maybe its me but are these movies being publisized at all? Hanswl and Gretal looks good but i bet it doesnt do good. and 43 sounds funny. I would like to see Parker. I like that type of movie and it sounds good. I love Jason Statham. But again I feel Like I should have heard more about it…Jennifer Lopez hasnt had a movie in a while. You think she would be everywhere doing publicity on this thing. The Last movie you mentioned..B-O-M-B..mark my words.
