Today’s giveaway is sponsored by SquareTrade, which is an extended warranties company. To be honest, I almost turned down their offer to host a giveaway on my dad blog because an extended warranty isn’t something most people want to win or read about. But extended warranties are practical and can be big money savers if something bad happens to your shining new device. Especially if you have kids. Children and devices are generally not a good combination. That’s why I always get nervous when my kids (especially my toddler) are playing with my tech gadgets.
SquareTrade offers all sorts of extended warranties. They offer warranties for smartphones (like the Samsung S3 and even the new iPhone 5), cameras, laptops, tablets (like the iPad), mp3 players (like the iPod), e-readers (like the Kindle and Nook), TVs, gaming consoles (like the xbox, Wii, Playstation), GPS devices, and appliances. In addition to covering device failure, their warranties also cover things like drops, spills and general human clumsiness. Nice!
SquareTrade offers two and three year extended warranties. You can purchase a plan without a deductible or one with a small deductible (like $49 per claim). The only drawback is their extended warranty only covers devices purchased in the last 30 to 90 days (depends on the device). But that seems to be the norm for most companies. Extended warranties purchased after 90 days, if available, are more expensive.
In addition to running a giveaway on my dad blog, SquareTrade is also giving away an iPad on their Facebook page. All you have to do is take their Are You a Phone Killer? quiz to enter their contest. Dads and moms are encouraged to answer seven short questions to find out whether they’re a Phone Killer. According to the quiz, I’m not a phone killer. However, the quiz indicated I’m clumsy, forgetful, and insensitive.

Thanks to SquareTrade, a reader of my dad blog will win an extended warranty. The warranty code is good for any warranty that can purchased on their site. The winner will be randomly selected. The deadline to enter the giveaway is Wednesday, October 10th (Eastern time). The giveaway is limited to readers in the USA. If you don’t see an entry form below, please wait for the Rafflecopter giveaway form to load (or refresh the browser).
[Disclosure: I did not receive anything for hosting this giveaway. The giveaway prize will be provided by SquareTrade, but they are not the administrators of the giveaway on my dad blog.
