Two of my kids and I saw a screening of The Odd Life of Timothy Green last week. We enjoyed the movie very much. It’s delightful and a great family movie. He’s a force of nature
Cindy and Jim Green are the main characters in The Odd Life of Timothy Green. They have been trying to start a family, but then learn that they cannot have a child. One night, the couple writes down what they want their child to be like if they had a kid of their own. Then Timothy magically appears in their house that same night. Cindy and Jim are ecstatic, but then discover there is something odd about Timothy. For instance, there are leaves growing out from his legs.
Part Pinocchio, part Pollyanna
The Odd Life of Timothy Green is part Pinocchio and part Pollyanna. Timothy isn’t a puppet like Pinocchio, but he does experience life as a child for the first time. He has an innocence quality to him, and doesn’t know how to do things that other kids can do. But that doesn’t seem to bother Timothy. He’s happy and cheerful. He’s not as bubbly as Pollyanna, but he does make the people in his life happy.
Good family movie
The Odd Life of Timothy Green is a great family movie. It’s only rated PG and does not contain bad language, violence, sexual content, or intense scenes. The story is easy to follow and will appeal to kids and parents. I thought the film was humorous, but my children thought it was hilarious. They laughed hysterically and loudly at times. There wasn’t any action in The Odd Life of Timothy Green, but my kids never got bored or fidgety.
CJ Adams is delightful
Jennifer Garner (Cindy Green) and Joel Edgerton (Jim Green) are the biggest names in The Odd Life of Timothy Green. However, CJ Adams is the one that stood out. He played the part of Timothy Green. I thought CJ Adams was delightful. Odeya Rush was also oddly wonderful as Timothy’s love interest, Joni Jerome. The film also featured Shohreh Aghdashloo (Evette Onat), Rosemarie DeWitt (Brenda Best), David Morse (James Green, Sr.), M. Emmet Walsh (Uncle Bub), Lois Smith (Aunt Mel), Lin-Manuel Miranda (Reggie), Dianne Wiest (Ms. Bernice Crudstaff), Ron Livingston (Franklin Crudstaff), Common (Coach Cal), Michael Arden (Doug Wert), and Rhoda Griffis (Doctor Lesley Hunt). The movie was directed by Peter Hedges.

I really hadn’t thought about the similarities in this movie and Pinocchio. That’s interesting. I think the movie looks cute from the trailers I’ve seen. I love Jennifer Garner too, I think she’s a good actress.

This seems like a great movie for all ages – I’ve heard it’s a tear jerker for the parents – I’ll pack tissues!
I’m not sure if you need tissues, but part of the story was sad.
we were supposed to go see this but the kids git sick. So sad I missed it.
