Chuggington Wilson's Wild Ride Deluxe Action Playset

Chuggington sent me their new Wilson’s Wild Ride Deluxe Action Playset for review and giveaway on my dad blog. I think Christmas has arrived early for my toddler because he loves trains and he really loves this train set. I love this set too because it’s sturdy, and easy to assemble and reassemble. This is important if you have a toddler like mine. My son has a habit of taking track sets apart. Then I have to put it back together again because most kits are too hard for him to reassemble by himself. That’s not the case with the new Tomy die-cast train set. My son doesn’t have any problem putting the tracks back together by himself after he does his Godzilla impersonation.

The Chuggington playset includes two train vehicles (Wilson and a hopper car), tracks, and various accessories. According to the product literature, you can build four different layouts. Actually, you or your kid can use your imagination and build as many layouts as you want. We built the main layout, which is based on the Wilson and the Wild Wind episode in the Chuggington TV series (on Disney Junior). This layout lets kids reenact the storyline or make up their own train adventure.

The train in the set isn’t powered. However, thanks to the triple risers, you can just use gravity to send Wilson speeding down the track. With the risers, you can launch Wilson from two feet high (or even higher if you’re daring).

The Tomy playset features an accessory called the Storm Maker. Its primary function is to launch the train down the tracks. The Storm Maker also makes sounds: storm or rain. Note: it requires two AA batteries, which are included.

Another cool accessory is the turn table. It spins your train automatically when the train travels across it. Note: you first have to lower the gate and rotate the table a couple of rotations.

The Wilson’s Wild Ride Deluxe Action Playset is priced at $60. It is or will be available soon at Amazon, Target, Walmart, and Toys R Us. BTW, you can also win a train set by entering my giveaway below or via the aStack Track Sweepstakes on Facebook. They’re giving away 50 playsets, but you better hurry. Their contest ends August 9th.
