(YouTube video link: Entertaining Tips from Chefs Stephen Kalil and Jody Denton)
I recently sent some questions to Chefs Stephen Kalil and Jody Denton over at the Frito Lay Flavor Kitchen. They sent me their response in the above YouTube video, which was totally unexpected. If you’re planning on entertaining on Memorial Day, then you’re going want to check out the YouTube video above. Their tips cover cooking, grilling, stress-free party preparation, and recipes. I think the tips are really helpful, and I plan on following their tips this Memorial weekend and also in the future for other get-togethers at our house. BTW, thanks to Frito Lay, I’m also giving away party packs to five readers of my dad blog.
If you don’t have time to watch the video right now, here is my quick summary of their tips:
How do you determine how many dishes to prepare without requiring guests to RSVP?
Start with products that if not used during the party, can be used at another time.
What’s a good time to buy food items for a holiday like Memorial Day?
Buy perishable items one or two days before you need them. Buy non-perishable items several days to a week prior to the event.
How do you throw a good party without a lot of stress?
Set up the food items near the grill so you can talk with the guests.
How do you plan a menu that appeals to everyone?
Offer a variety of dishes — some dishes for hearty eaters and some dishes for light eaters. In addition, set up a food bar so guests can create their own custom dishes that will appeal to them.
Is there an easy way to clean-up after the party?
Use eco-friendly disposable plates and utensils. As a hint to your guests, place two large bins lined with garbage bags in an area that can be easily seen. One bin is for recyclable items and the other one is for non-recyclables.
Thanks to Frito-Lay, five readers of my dad blog will each each win a party pack. The winners will be randomly selected. The deadline to enter the giveaway is Thursday, May 31st (Eastern time). The giveaway is limited to readers in the USA. If you don’t see an entry form below, please wait for the Rafflecopter giveaway form to load (or refresh the browser).
[Disclosure: The giveaway prize will be provided by Frito-Lay, but they are not the administrators of the giveaway on my blog. I am not liable for the prize. I received some products for writing this blog post. As always, the opinions expressed are mine and I am not obligated to write a positive review.]
