Lionsgate and HIT Entertainment sent me the Awesome Adventures: Rescue Friends DVD for review and giveaway on my dad blog. It’s a variety pack and I love variety packs. There are six episodes on this DVD — two episodes each of Thomas and Friends, Bob the Builder, and Fireman Sam. The 62-minute Awesome Adventures: Rescue Friends is available now on DVD, digital download, and on demand. It has a list price of $14.98, but you can currently purchase it for $11.99 on Amazon.
Here’s a brief breakdown of the six episodes on the Awesome Adventures: Rescue Friends DVD:
Thomas & Friends – Spencer the Grand
It’s really foggy in this Thomas & Friends story. Sir Topham Hatt tells the trains to stay put, but Spencer doesn’t agree. He thinks he’s too grand to get lost in the fog. So he leaves and gets lost. After going all over the island, Spencer eventually ends up right back where he started. Then he learns that Percy is still not back yet, so Spencer heads out to find Percy and bring him back.
Thomas & Friends – Toby’s New Whistle
Toby’s bell is replaced with a new steam whistle. The new whistle is bigger than his old bell. Toby doesn’t like the new whistle so he decides not to use it. Then he has problems getting the cows to move off the track and also has problems getting people’s attention. Eventually, Toby learns that his new whistle really is useful. In the process, he uses the whistle to help and warn his friends.
Fireman Sam – Off Duty Sam
It’s Sam’s day off in this episode. He has a lot of things to do during his time off, but he ends up spending all of his time helping people in town. By the end of his time off, Sam has not completed any of things he had to do. Luckily, the town people decided to pay Sam back by doing the things he didn’t have time to do.
Fireman Sam – Fireman James
James is a kid who wants to be a fireman. James overhears calls for help on his walkie talkie and decides to help. He actually intervenes a couple of times and succeeds. But then he gets in over his head and needs the help of a real fireman.
Bob the Builder – Scratch Goes Solo
In this episode, Scratch gets his first solo job. While the rest of the gang is building a new bell tower, Scratch is digging holes on a farm by himself. Scratch eventually gets lonely, but is afraid to admit it. Then he builds a big muddy friend because he’s so lonely. Unfortunately, Scratch gets stuck in the mud and his friends has to come to his recuse.
Bob the Builder – Whizzy Dizzy
The can-do crew is tearing down their old tool shed and building a new one. But Dizzy doesn’t think he’s helpful unless he does every thing super fast. This of course, creates additional problem for the crew when Dizzy gets careless because of his speed. Eventually Dizzy learns that he can be useful without trying to do everything as fast as he can.
