Thanks to Bigben Interactive, I’m giving away one of their new Parental Control kits for the Nintendo 3DS and Playstation 3 (PS3). My children love playing video games. If it was up to my kids, they would play all day long. Luckily, it’s not up to them. We’re big meanies, so we like to boss the kids around and tell them when they can play and when they have to turn off their devices. Unfortunately, that means we have to keep track of how long the kids have been playing. This is when the new Parental Control kits come in handy. The video gaming products can automatically monitor and limit your children’s gameplay time. Neat!
Bigben Interactive currently offers two video gaming accessories for limiting how long children can play. One of their new products is designed for the Nintendo 3DS handheld gaming devices. The other product is designed for Sony’s Playstation 3 gaming console. Both products will be available next month with a suggested retail price of $39.99.
3DS Parental Control
This Bigben Interactive gaming accessory is designed for the Nintendo 3DS. With the Parental Control kit for the 3DS, parents can set the maximum gaming time per day or per gaming session. Dads and moms, via a detachable key, can set the gameplay time to 20, 30, 45 or 60 minutes for a session and between one and four hours for a day. The Parental Control system will give a
self-destruct warning five minutes prior to shutdown so that children can save the game. When the time is up, it will automatically blow-up quit the game. In addition, Parental Control makes sure your kids are playing the games at a safe distance. It does this by detecting the space between the screen and the child’s eyes. It will emit a loud signal if your kid is less than 9″ away from the 3DS screen. BTW, the Parental Control hardware also doubles as a sturdy case.
PlayStation 3 Parental Control
This version is designed for the PlayStation 3. The product replaces the PS3 controller with a wireless controller with the added ability to digitally set the gaming time on an LCD screen (via a password created by a parent). Game sessions can last as little as 15 minutes or up to three hours. A few minutes before time is up, the controller gives two warning signals, prompting the player to save the game progress. After that, the game automatically ends.
