Pro Files: Baseball book ~ Sports Illustrated Kids

My son and I received the new Pro Files: Baseball (Sports Illustrated) for review on my dad blog. The 96-page hardcover book targets children ages eight to twelve. My oldest son isn’t into baseball, but he still loves this book. He doesn’t follow baseball and doesn’t know any of the players in the book, so I’m not sure why he likes the book. However, he did mention the favorite cartoon characters of the players in the book. That’s right, Pro Files: Baseball lists inside information like favorite car, movies, actor, food, cartoon character, video game, etc. Pro Files: Baseball is available now with a list price of $17.95, but you can currently purchase it on Amazon for $13.46.

Sports Illustrated Kids’ Pro Files: Baseball features fifteen of the best players in Major League Baseball:

  • Dustin Pedroia
  • Justin Verlander
  • Albert Pujols
  • Joe Mauer
  • Justin Upton
  • Evan Longoria
  • Roy Halladay
  • Ichiro Suzuki
  • Joey Votto
  • Tim Lincecum
  • Josh Hamilton
  • Jose Reyes
  • Felix Hernandex
  • Brian McCann
  • Mariano Rivera

Cool. Two Seattle Mariners (Suzuki and Hernandex) are actually included in the book. We don’t have a MLB team in Portland so the Mariners is the team we usually root for (if only they weren’t so bad). Come to think of it, Portland doesn’t even have a minor league baseball team. Portland’s minor league team moved away when they lost their stadium. It was remodeled for the Portland Timbers — our very own Major League Soccer (MLS) team.

Sports Illustrated Kids Pro Files: Baseball includes profiles about the MLB players listed above. The book also provides information on how to play like them. Unfortunately, I don’t think that will help my son. He’s not very good in sports. At least he’s a good reader. BTW, the book also include one hundred action-oriented photos of the players.

If you’re looking for a gift idea for a young fan of baseball, then you should consider Pro Files: Baseball. It’s a pretty neat book.
