Review and Giveaway: PointHub for booking flights and hotels – win a $25 American Express gift card

PointHub contacted me last week about doing a write-up of their free service and hosting a giveaway on my dad blog (I’m giving away a $25 American Express gift card). To be honest, I had never heard of PointHub until they emailed me. From looking around their website, I’ve learned that PointHub lets people search and book flights and hotels. PointHub is kinda like Travelocity, Orbitz, Hotwire, and Expedia. But unlike those services, PointHub gives parents side-by-side comparisons between purchase price and rewards points for airlines and hotels. Not only can travelers see a comparison, they can also book with either credit card or with frequent flyer miles and reward points. Now that’s convenient.

PointHub is a free service, but you do need to create an account, which you can do quickly and easily (note: you can sign up using Facebook, Twitter, or Google account). After creating an account, your next step is to add your reward programs to your PointHub account. This part is actually optional. You can still use their cash vs. points comparison service without adding your reward programs, but then you won’t be able to take advantage of PointHub’s other free services:

PointTracker and alert tools
Dads and moms can manage rewards programs from hundreds of airlines, hotels, car rentals, cruises, credit cards, and retailers and receive alerts when their miles, points, or vouchers are about to expire, along with recommendations on how to best use them.

PointFinder
This service saves time by providing travelers a personalized dashboard that displays only those airline and hotel miles/points promotions that match the user’s rewards programs, travel habits and preferences.
