Waterpik Traveler Water Flosser

Here’s a holiday gift idea: a Waterpik Traveler Water Flosser (giveaway info below). You can stop rolling your eyes now. I know very few people want a water flosser for Christmas, but it’s a useful gift for someone that is into flossing or someone that has gum problems. I’m one of those someone. I brush my teeth two to three times a day, and floss daily. In theory, I should have a great set of gum. I don’t. According to my dentist, I have periodontal disease and I need a deep cleaning. A deep cleaning costs about $1000 ($250 per quadrant). For that kind of money, the service should also include multiple massages by Victoria’s Secret models. It doesn’t.

This is why a water flosser from Waterpik comes in handy. It doesn’t come with Victoria’s Secret models, but you can use the device for massaging your gums. And it costs less than $70 (a lot cheaper than a deep cleaning). Their water flossers can reach areas where a brush and string floss can’t reach. According to Waterpik, water flossing has been clinically proven to be three times more effective than string flossing. In laboratory tests, their water flossers removed 99.9% of plaque from treated areas with a three-second application.

The Waterpik Traveler Water Flosser I received for review on my dad blog is small. It’s about half the size of their other models. It comes with a travel case and can be used in any country around the world. The Traveler is great for using on the road, but it’s also the right size for dads and moms with limited counter space at home.

I found the Waterpik Traveler easy to use. You just fill the tank with water, attach the tip to the handle, place it in your mouth, and turn on the water flosser. Then you move the Waterpik along your gumline. The process only takes about a minute. There’s also three pressure settings on the Waterpik Traveler (I used the lowest setting because I’m a wimp).

The Waterpik Traveler includes four tips: Classic Jet Tip, Plaque Seeker Tip, Orthodontic Tip and the Tongue Cleaner. I’ve only used the classic tip so far. It’s for general use. As you can tell from the names, the plaque tip is for plaque removal, the orthodontic tip is for braces, and the tongue cleaner is for cleaning your tongue.

If you don’t need a travel size water flosser, Waterpik also has a regular size unit. The Waterpik Ultra Water Flosser holds a little more water (20 oz) than the Traveler (15 oz). It also has ten pressure settings (0 to 90 psi) and six tips: Plaque Seeker Tip, Classic Jet Tip, Tongue Cleaner, Orthodontic Tip, Pik Pocket Tip, and Toothbrush Tip. In addition to a 90-second water tank, the Waterpik Ultra also features a pause button on the handle and a lid for the tank. The lid is actually part of a built-in storage area for the six tips.

If you have a little one, there’s a Waterpik Waterflosser for Kids. It’s designed for children ages six to twelve. The kids waterflosser features three pressure setting, a colorful green tank, and stickers to personalize the small Waterpik. Feel free to check out my review of Waterpik Waterflosser for Kids. I wrote about it last May.
