Clorox 2 Play2Day pledge

I have two announcements on my dad blog today. First, I’m giving away five bottles of Clorox 2 Stain Fighter & Color Booster. If you have kids like mine, you’ll want to use Clorox 2 to remove all the dirt and stains from their clothes. Second announcement: Clorox is giving away a bunch of fabulous prizes if you take the Clorox 2 Play2Day pledge. Prizes (valued at $290 each) include:

  • Soccer packages consisting of a soccer ball, practice net and cleats
  • Sledding packages consisting of a sled, hats, and gloves to be awarded in the form of a $290 REI gift card
  • Basketball packages consisting of basketballs, hoop and other basketball gear
  • Ski/snowboard packages awarded in the form of a $290 REI gift card
  • Spring backyard game packages consisting of croquet, badminton and bocce ball (not a typo)
  • Baseball packages consisting of balls, bats and gloves
  • Tennis packages consisting of rackets, balls, a ball hopper and sweatbands
  • Backyard swing sets
  • Pool party packages consisting of floating toys, rings, rafts, and a pool volleyball net and balls

Clorox 2 Play2Day Pledge Campaign
Clorox started their new campaign to help parents encourage their children to play outside instead of inside watching TV/movies, playing video games, or texting on their phones. In addition to offering great prizes, Clorox 2 will donate $50,000 to Action for Healthy Kids, which is a non-profit organization devoted to helping children learn about staying active and eating well. On top of the $50,000 donation, Clorox 2 will also donate $1 for every new pledge participant in the Clorox 2 Play2Day Pledge.

Here are some findings from a recent survey:

  • 45% of parents say their children prefer not to play outside because they would rather be inside watching television or movies
  • One in three parents say their children would rather be inside on the computer or playing video games than playing outside
  • The percentage of children who prefer texting or being on the phone to outdoor play more than doubles between the ages of 9 and 12 years old
  • One in five parents has told their child not to play outside because they didn’t want them to get dirty

  1. I do try to encourage my kids to play outside as much as possible. I think it is good for them to be out in the fresh air.

  2. Fall and winter are my (older) kids’ favorite time of the year already. They love skiing and camping/hiking in the fall.

  3. Absolutely, even if it is cooler out, a little exercise everyday helps. In Minnesota the leaves are turning and yesterday we raked and then jumped into the piles of leaves and then they buried me, it was refreshing!

  4. My kids were always encouraged to play outdoors year round as we live in
Florida ~ They were always involved in sports however their summer activities
always included heavy applications of sunscreen!

  5. I always encourage my 4 kids to play outside. My hubby and I always take time to do something outside so our little ones are always getting messy and we enjoy having great family time out doors.

  6. not only do i encourage my kids to play outside in the winter time , i am right there with them sledding or skiing and having a Blast :)

  7. i always encourage my niece to play outside bc of fresh air, exercise and the fact that kids don’t play outside as often as they used to

  8. Since we live in Miami, Florida we are always playing outside year round. We play kickball, softball, tag, hopscotch, jump rope and many other games.

  9. Mandatory: we live in CA, so there’s sun all year round so it’s easy to go outside and play. My husband and I workout outside every day and of course we will bring our daughter with us.

  10. i encourage it esp in fall with leaves and winter snow fun

  20. Yes, I don’t have to encourage my kids because they insist on playing outside no matter what the season is. We live in the south so it’s usually warm unless it’s winter and then I just make sure they are bundeled up!

  21. We play outside all year long!! I mean there are days when it’s too cold, too hot, or rainy out. We love being outside!!! We build snowmans, igloos, and go sleigh riding in the winter.

  22. As foster parents, we have always had to really encourage the kids to play outside. Summer is a no brainer. Spring…….camping, hiking, outdoor games, etc….Fall….we “fall” into leave piles, run throw corn fields, etc., Winter…well they make jackets for a reason!

  23. We live in the south so playing outside is a bit easier than most places but I always encourage my kids to be outside.

  25. They’re encouraged to play outside all year round. It’s better than sitting in front of the television or the computer.

  26. We like going to the park in the fall and also biking. During winter, if its safe we encourage kids to play outside -make snow man etc.

  27. I encourage my kids to play outside year round! Not playing outside enough is getting to be a huge problem with kids then staying inside and being lazy playing electronic games in their beds instead of being out building a snowman!!

  28. I like Clorox and encourage all kids to play outside and get exercise!

  33. Fall is especially great for encouraging the boys to go outside and play football. Spring starts soccer and baseball but winter is much harder. With temperatures that often are well below freezing outdoor fun is much more restricted.
