I’m giving away a copy of Shaun the Sheep: Animal Antics DVD on my dad blog. This is the first time I’ve watched Shaun the Sheep. It’s kinda like watching short episodes of Wallace & Gromit, which make sense because the DVD is from the creators of Wallace & Gromit. Unlike a lot of kids’ shows, the characters in Shaun the Sheep don’t talk. The creators let the action of Shaun and his barnyard buddies speak for themselves, which my kids and I thought were funny (especially my eight-year old son). The target age for this DVD is people ages 2-60. After watching, I would have to agree Animal Antics will appeal to many adults. Shaun the Sheep: Animal Antics comes out on DVD next Tuesday (July 26th) from Lionsgate and HIT Entertainment. It has a list price of $14.98 (currently $11.99 on Amazon).
Animal Antics features seven five-minute shorts of the Disney Channel series:
In this short, a fox disguises himself as a ram so he can infiltrate the flock and eat Timmy (lamb). But every time the fox gets close to Timmy, Shirley (sheep) accidentally ruin his plans. In the end, the fox gets what he deserves.
Bitzer (dog) loses his precious whistle and uses the Farmer’s trumpet as a replacement. He drives the flock crazy, but eventually sees the error of his way.
This is one of my favorite episodes. In this story, the Farmer tries to impress his date by cooking her dinner. He can’t cook and the animals end up cooking the dinner for him. It’s a pretty funny episode.
Who’s the Caddy
Another hilarious episode involving Shaun trying to learn how play golf. Meanwhile, Bitzer wants to show off his skills. But he constantly interrupted by the Farmer, who injured his back at the start of the show.
Everything Must Go
The lesson of this story is never put animals in charge. The Farmer starts off by selling produce from his garden. Then he puts his dog in charge, who in turns put Shaun in charge. Shaun ends up making a lot of money, but he does this by selling all of the Farmer’s appliances and furniture. Doh!
In the Doghouse
Bitzer decides to leave after his dog house is accidentally destroyed. But Shaun and the flock lures him back by ordering and building Bitzer a super cool dog house.
The fox comes back in this short and snatches the rooster. Shaun teams up with Bitzer to rescue the rooster. Once again, the fox gets what he deserves in the end.
Shaun the Sheep: Animal Antics DVD also includes a couple of bonus features: Building-A-Pig Video and a sneak peek of Timmy’s Tune #2. If your kids love Play-Doh, they are going to want to watch the building a pig video. As you can guess from the title, the video shows your kids how to make the pigs featured in the Shaun the Sheep DVD.
