Today’s giveaway is brought to you by Fotolia (Facebook | Twitter) — I’m giving away a two week subscription to two readers of my dad blog. Fotolia is one of the top stock photo houses in the world and offers royalty free images and HD videos. You can legally use their photos, illustrations, and videos for your blog/website, advertising media, professional documents, press releases, and other promotional materials. Fotolia has over 12,278,167 photos (JPEG), vector illustrations (AI, EPS, SVG) and HD videos (.mov, .avi, .wmv .flv). To find the right photo for your needs, you can search by keyword, or browse by category, gallery, tag, etc.

Here are three files I downloaded from Fotolia. The files were very large so I saved them in a lower resolution for this blog post.

Fotolia offers two pricing models: (1) subscription and (2) credits. Standard subscriptions start at $199 for one month. That will allow you to download 25 large photos a day (750 total downloads). That comes out to about 27 cents per file. If you sign up for a one-year subscription with 250 downloads per day, the cost per file drops to 14 cents. The standard subscription only includes JPEG images. If you want to download vector artwork and videos, then you need a premium subscription. Pricing for the premium subscription starts at $249 for one month (25 download per day).

The subscription plan is great for ad agencies, but the credit pricing model works best for the rest of us (bloggers and other normal people). Credits start at $1.20 each, but the price per credit drops if you buy more (75 cents per credit if you buy 6400 credits). A credit will buy you a XS standard image (400×300 (0.1 MP), 5.6″x4.2″, 72 dpi). An XL standard image (3264×2448 (8.0 MP), 10.9″ x 8.2″, 300 dpi) will cost you 8 credits. Note: most of the photographs I post on my blog are XS size.

Fotolia Giveaway
Two lucky readers of my dad blog will each win a 14-day Fotolia subscription (3 image downloads per day). The deadline to enter the giveaway is next Wednesday, June 29th (Pacific time). The giveaway is limited to readers anywhere on the planet Earth. The winner will be randomly selected. To enter the giveaway, leave a comment about what you plan to use the images or videos for.

I run a website that helps people find gluten foods and products to improve their health. To illustrate my posts, I often use images of healthy, whole foods. Fotolia has some of the best images I’ve seen, so being able to download 3 images a day for free would be fantastic!
