Go Daddy .ME Scholarship – Win $10,000 for College

Hello people. I’m back. After writing reviews and giveaways for the last two months, it feels kinda weird writing about something else. Don’t worry, I will still run giveaways on my dad blog. I know many of you are here mainly for the giveaways. You guys like free stuff. The frugal dad in me likes free stuff too. Anyhow, while I’m waiting to be contacted for another giveaway, I thought I’ll write something useful for dads and moms with kids in college or going to college in the fall. Go Daddy is giving away ten scholarships worth $10,000 each. According to my fifth grader, that’s a total of $100,000. I think that’s also how much a college education will cost annually by the time my kids are ready for college.

Go Daddy .ME Scholarship Program

Starting Monday, January 10th, students can apply for a $10,000 Go Daddy .ME Scholarship. Your kid don’t have to be in college right now, but they have to be enrolled in the Fall of 2011. They also need a minimum cumulative high school or college GPA of 3.0 and have scored higher than 860 on the SAT or 18 on the ACT.

To apply, applicants need to submit two letters of recommendation. Students also have to write a 500-word essay describing how the Internet or Internet technology has helped them in the course of their studies, and how they envision benefiting from it in the future. All entries will be evaluated by qualified judges. Each essay will be judged based on creativity, originality, and quality. The deadline to apply is March 31, 2011. Scholarship recipients will be announced at the end of April.

  1. My older kid will be shuffling off to college all too soon, in just three and a half years; believe me when I tell you, we’ve been worried about the cost since the day we knew she was coming. Oy.

BTW, you know you really need to change your header photo. It still shows just the three of your bunch who were born when you launched. I’m pretty sure you have a fourth, right? ;-P

  2. GoDaddy was founded in 1997 as Jomax Technologies by Bob Parsons, a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. Prior to GoDaddy, Parsons sold his financial software services company, “Parsons Technology, Inc.” to Intuit. The sale provided him with several millions of dollars in the mid-1990s. As a result, Parsons decided to retire. In 1997, Bob Parsons came out of his retirement to launch a new company, Jomax Technologies which later became GoDaddy Group Inc.
