State Farm Giveaway – Win a Garmin Nuvi 1300 GPS

Has anyone heard of State Farm’s Auto Learning Center? Until recently, I didn’t. After browsing the site, I can tell you that the Auto Learning Center features information about auto insurance, auto care, driving tips and a variety of other topics from experts. The online community also includes discussion forums, polls and a Q&A section for dads and moms to submit questions. To help spread awareness of the resource center, State Farm (Facebook | Twitter) is giving away a cool prize pack on my dad blog. The gift set includes:

  • Garmin nuvi 1300 4.3″ GPS Navigator
  • State Farm-Branded Roadside Emergency Kit (12′ heavy duty jumper cables, 300psi air compressor with accessories, 12′ nylon tow strap, flashlight with batteries, 2-in-1 screwdriver, slip joint pliers, industrial cutter, and work gloves, all in a rugged carrying case with reflective taping and handle)

Garmin nuvi 1300 4.3-Inch Widescreen Portable GPS Navigator

Here are some interesting information I found on the State Farm Auto Learning Center:

  • Women pay less for car insurance (they are 50% less likely to have a DUI/DWI)
  • Thanksgiving is the holiday with the most fatal car crashes — New Year’s Eve is #10 (I thought this would be #1)
  • Anti-lock brakes may help you maintain control of your vehicle during an emergency braking situation, but they don’t necessarily reduce stopping distances
  • Electronic Stability Control (ESC) is designed to help you control your vehicle during extreme steering maneuvers, but not if you’re driving too fast to stop safely
  • Four-wheel drive might make you more confident while driving in the snow and the ice, but it’s not a fail-safe
  • Position your vehicle so the fuel door is seen from a main road to protect your car from gas theft

  1. Well the very first car accident I’ve been in is a few months ago during the summer. It was pouring outside and I was being a bit reckless by going 30 km above the speed limit while going up this ramp that had a slight right turn up the bridge. I was just humming along to the beats on the radio when my car started hydroplaning and I had absolute no control of the car. I tried to save it, but i adjusted the wheel too much and the car swerved and then did a 180 on the bridge and slammed against the interception block. Thankfully, no cars were nearby on either lanes miracously and the only injury was to the car. Phew. From then on, Ive been a very safe and cautious driver! haha

  2. The only accident that I have been in in which I was driving was a few years ago and I was making a turn on a icy intersection by work and the person in front of me slammed on their brakes and I could not stop. Luckily, the accident was not too vast!

  3. I was in a really bad car accident a couple of years ago with my kids. I was driving down a very quiet dirt road and a driver decided it was usually so quiet that he didn’t have to stop at a stop sign. He plowed right into us. We were so lucky in that he hit the bed of my truck instead of the cab. So while there was tons of damage to the truck, me and the kids were fine.

    1. The last time I was in a car accident was about 17 yrs ago. Unfortunately that year my children & I were in two accidents. The first was on Christmas Eve and it was a hit and run. We were on our way to Midnight Mass Services & as we drove by the street the corner had a stop sign. As we approached the middle of the intersection we heard a car rev the engine (there were no lights on the approaching vehicle) it sped up and hit us. I had my two children and one of their friends with me. The car hit the back area so hard our car spun around and the other car just left. Most homes had Christmas lights on but if they had family over no one came out to check on us. We had to go to a house to see if they would call the police and an ambulance.

  4. I have not had an accident in several years (thankfully!) but several years ago I was rearended 4 times in 1 year! Three of the accidents did not cause any damage to my car but the 4th time caused $1600 of damage! The driver of the other car was a 16 year old girl and it happened while I was taking my son to school.

  5. I was in the middle of a WI snowstorm, stopped still on an icy highway when a semi came up on us too fast and his trailer jackknifed into the back of my car, sending my car flying into the ditch. Scary but thankfully neither I nor my colleague were injured!

  6. I have been fortunate to of late not been in one but in the past I have been in a few. One was where I am still dealing with the injuries suffered. I was at a stop light and the older gentleman didn’t stop. I got whiplash and a few other things as a result.

  7. No recent accidents, but the worst was going through an intersection with my wife’s truck and while I could have sworn my light was green, I just don’t know for sure (not a good thing). I got t-boned, the truck was totaled, but I wasn’t hurt. My work-provided Blackberry was smashed, though. (And I couldn’t find my sunglasses – that bothered me for some reason.) It took me a while to let go of the wheel as well. My wife was glad that I was okay, but asked several times about her truck. :)

  8. I hit someone in reverse in my Dad’s VW bug back when I was a teen; quite a learning experience – always look the direction the car is going!

  9. Few years ago had a cube truck go across 3 lanes of traffic and hit the median right in front of me.Had enough time to slam on the brakes and swerve to just hit his rear bumper with my front divers side.Could have been worse I guess.

  10. While sitting at an intersection on a busy avenue waiting for the light to turn green I heard in the far back distance a screech of tires and when i looked in the rear view mirror I saw smoke and cars being crashed. I saw this huge 4 wheel drive truck swerve onto the sidewalk to avoid the ongoing collisions, the truck kept going on the side walk at a high rate of speed an passed me on the right hand side, lost control and started doing donuts and when it finally stopped rotating it ended up pointed directly at me, it came towards me and all I can do was to hold on to the steering wheel and wait for the impact.

  11. I was in an accident about 7 years ago. A young woman increased her speed through a yellow light and caught me coming out of the intersection. I was very lucky, no injuries to either of us. I believe she was on the phone when it happened.

  12. last accident was a year ago when my car slid on ice in parking lot and there was another car in front. Damage was not too bad.

  13. traveling for work in Va. Approximately 1am I had a deer jump in front of me on the interstate. I was traveling 70mph. Demolished right front. Never found deer. Company vehicle so lots of paper work, drug test, etc. Luckily I was not injured. Ironically 1st day of hunting season at sunrise.

  14. And the most recent accident I’ve been in was thankfully 11 years ago – and was quite minor. Was actually on the way home from purchasing a car (which I had to get as the previous one was totalled in a different accident where I was an innocent bystander) and got tapped while stopped at a light. Thankfully, nothing much in the way of damage, and no injuries!

  15. In aug I hit a deer in Vermont. The deer was in a ditch on the side of the road, and I swear he waited for me so he could jump out in front of me.

  16. I’ve only been in one accident *knock on wood* and that was someone was backing out without looking behind them or the mirror and hit the back of my car.
My husband got into an accident recently when someone just stopped in front of him and of course that would make it his fault.
But luckily, that’s the only ones we’ve been in!

  17. After I hit a deer in Aug my husband drove my car in Sept and came upon 2 deer on the side of the road. The mother deer ran across in front of him but the baby deer wasn’t so lucky. He ran into the back quarter of the truck and committed suicide. What are the chances of hitting 2 deer within 3months. I’m thinking of changing the color of my car to orange.

  18. First of all let me say I have always had Statefarm for my auto insurance. One year I was at a stop light then all of a sudden I hear screeching tires and wham a car slammed into my rear end full force. Thankfully I only had a dislocated jaw and some neck injuries but survived. The bad part was the idot who slammed into me had no insurance, thankfully I had Statefarm.

  20. I had a bad run where I was in several fender benders in a few years time. Luckily since then I haven’t been in an accident for the last four years!!

  21. I had a wreck a few years ago, I wasnt paying attention to the road and I went off the side of the road and skidded around and went backwards into a ditch. The police said I was very lucky that I wasnt hurt. The car only had a few scratches on it. My mom said my guardian angel was watching over me that day.

  22. My husband had a tree fall on the car while he was driving! It broke his sturnum and gave him terrible whip lash and cuts.I had to stay at home that day because my grand dad was very ill and it was good because the passenger side was completely crushed by this tree.My poor mister still has terrible pain from where the air bag broke his chest.

  23. Just this morning my wife called me after she left for work…”Honey, you may want to check your car, I hit it on the way out.”I kid you not.

  24. I haven’t had an accident in years (knocking on wood big time). However, one of the most memorable “near misses” happened on my way to work as I was sitting at a stop light, on a hill. It had snowed the the night before and as I sat at the light, I worried that I wouldn’t have enough traction to get moving again when the light turned green. I was the first one in line. As I sat there thinking about it, a car entered the intersection from my right … and, in the icy conditions, began to spin. I just knew that I was going to be hit hard. He spun out of control and when he stopped he was about 1 inch from my door. We both looked at each other … amazed!

  25. I had a wreck a a couple of years ago, The driver hit me from behind while I was completely stopped at a stop light. She said she was thinking about shopping and wasn’t paying attention. THE NERVE!

    THANKS for the AWESOME GIVEAWAY!!!

  26. My most recent accident was a number of years ago. A elderly lady ran a stop sign and ran right into my car. My car was heavily damaged. But, fortunately, no one got hurt.
    Thanks so much.

  27. “Knock on wood” but I’ve never had an accident. Our 17 year old son had a small fender bender just a few weeks after he got his license. He backed into a lady driving a cadillac!

  28. Luckly I haven’t had an accidnet for about 15 years. The one I had then was when I went to pull in my driveway with my truck, the next door neighbor had his little Ford Fiesta parked with his front bumper sticking in by driveway. I didn’t notice how close he was and my rear bumper hooked his front bumper as I pulled in. Ripped the whole front bumper off the Fiesta, made a scuff on my bumper about the size of a quarter. Bummer.
    graywolfpack5@yahoo.com

  29. Knock on wood, I’ve never been in what you’d consider an “accident.” Although one time I was behind a semi truck at a grocery store waiting for him to turn and evidently he didn’t notice I was behind him…because he started backing up. I honked my horn multiple times and he didn’t hear it, but I couldn’t back up because there were people behind me. He kept backing up – right into my car and it turned off. Finally some nice bystander ran up to the truck driver, waving his hands, telling him there was someone behind him. The truck driver got out of his truck…and low and behold it was one of my old high school classmates. One I never really liked to begin with. Good times.

  30. I was only in 1 accident my entire 28 years of living. I was at a 4 way stoplight and the light had just turned green. As I went through the light someone ran a red light and T-boned me. Totally demolished my car and she had NO INSURANCE! Thankfully I was okay but it scared the crap outta me!

  31. My most recent accident happened when a dear ran into the side of my brand new car (Less the 800 miles on it!) No one was hurt, but both doors were damaged.

  32. Thankfully I’ve never had an accident when I was driving. I’ve been in a couple where I was a passenger. Minor fender benders, nothing major.

  33. As a driver, I have only been in one accident 20+ years ago. I was backing out of a parking place and someone backed into me. They blamed it on me, but they hit me when I was almost out and they hit my front bumper.

    lkish77123 at gmail dot com

  34. My first car accident was my last and it was nearly 10 years ago and I had just started driving. A friend threw something in to my car and it was swarmed with bees; me being deathly allergic to bees and young and dumb…I freaked out and swerved (luckily only going about 20 mph) and hit another car (also luckily only going about 20 mph). Didn’t do much damage, lucky for me my Dad didn’t get too terribly mad and they didn’t charge me with anything or jack up my insurance.

  35. Was in a car accident a couple of years ago with someone who was not insured. Thank goodness I was but I did not have full coverage to get another car. The driver was male and uninsured with his family in the car!
    hey.4horses@yahoo.com

  36. I was hit in a store parking lot. I was parked and sitting in the car waiting for my son to come out of the store and a woman rammed me from the spot in front of me.

  37. Thankfully I haven’t been in any serious car accidents since I started driving, but a few years ago I was forced off the road by a huge truck swerving into my lane. My wheels hit the gravel and spun me back across two lanes of very heavy traffic and into the ditch nearby. My car and I managed to drive away without a scratch.

  38. My last car accident I was rear ended by someone driving on 3 tires and sparks were flying everywhere. I saw him coming. He then jumped out of his car and ran. They never found him. He was driving an unregistered, uninsured car. Luckily I drive a Suburban!

  39. On the way back home to Arizona after our wedding in Kansas, I ran over a piece of a semi laying on the highway. It took out the transmission of our brand new car with only 3000 miles on it. Actually, it only took out reverse and the highest gear, so we drive slowly back home to the dealer (24 hours away) and our car was fixed while we honeymooned in Hawaii!

  40. Nothing recently, but changing the tire on the side of the interstate with the kids in the mini-van . . . . now that’s where this could have come in handy!

  41. I’ve been lucky, the only accident I was in was when I was very young and my Dad was hit by a drunk driver. I don’t remember much, but we were also lucky there because no one was hurt badly.

  42. Last winter I hit a patch of black ice while going around a corner and ended up against a snow bank, which I easily rocked out of (Remember folks, don’t floor it, rock it.) Considering I was working second shift last and the the roads weren’t well maintained during ANY of the snow storms, I’m considering that a really good record!

  43. Worst accident I was in was when i was driving home from work very late at night and hit a deer coming across the road. The deer had to be put down and my front end was ruined but I was able to get the car home.

  44. I’ve only been in 1 accident where a car was totalled but thankfully, there were no serious injuries! This was about 15 yrs ago.
    murphykatt[at]yahoo[dot]com

  45. Afraid to write this – but have not been in one in a long time – last one though was when i hit a buddy of mine headon days after seeing him and him telling me he just bought a new truck

  46. Two years ago I backed into a parked car. My car had no noticeable damage. The other car? Well, thank heavens for insurance.

  47. I got blindsided at an intersection on the way to a concert – I wasn’t driving, I was the passenger on the side that got hit!

  48. I was turning left into a shopping center and a car came flying out of the center and didn’t stop so they ran right into my front left as I was turning in. I was not a happy camper.

  50. About 6 months ago, a 16 year old backed into the road from behind a row of hedges and into my right front fender. I never saw her coming, but neither of us was hurt, so everything was good.

  51. Last winter, I had an accident which involved sliding on ice into a fence. It seemed like it didn’t cause much damage, but of course it was very costly to repair.

  52. My husband and I were in a car accident a few months ago and I injured my back. We were stopped at a light and someone rear-ended us at full-speed. There was a car in front of us, so we hit them too. So scary!

  53. About 15 years ago I was broadsided by a Pepsi delivery truck pulling out of the driveway of a restaurant whose driver didn’t look both ways.

  54. The last accident I had a truck slid across the ice and did a slow slide down the side of my SUV. No one was hurt, but it did $9000 in damage to my vehicle.

  55. No accidents here..thank goodness but I did get a flat tire on the interstate this past summer.

  56. I wish I could say NEVER, but about 2 years ago (I am embarrassed to admit) I ran into one of the median signs – yeah, the one that is trying to warn you that a median is there and not to run into it! I was trying to shoo a bee out my window and…well you know the rest! I actually totaled the car! Other than that I have a PERFECT record.

  57. I am followin you on twitter @evoluchun and tweeted below had to break it up though for some reason it wouldn’t post

  58. July 23, 2009. My parents promised to get my brother a dog as his high school graduation gift. We had been searching PetFinder.com for weeks, and finally found a few dogs he was interested in. I was going to pay for the food, toys, bed, etc. as my gift to him, so I went with them to the adoption fair. My brother found the perfect puppy, we went to PetCo and started the hour long drive home with our new family member. About 10 minutes away from home, we were in a 5 car accident! Nobody was seriously injured, but my mom’s car was totaled!

  59. Some close calls but so far no accidents. Want it to stay that way. And I do NOT ever drive when having drunk alcohol…AT ALL!

  60. I was actually just in a car accident on November 30th. I was stopped at a red light, in my Chevy Equinox and a little old lady wasn’t watching, crashed into me in her beretta and her car went underneath my car. Still recovering from it and I just got my car back yesterday after about 7 grand in damage. Luckily, she had great insurance and they are covering my car and my injuries. I actually just took a muscle relaxer and figured I’d enter some giveaways before it kicks in. ;)

  61. Unfortunately I have been in a few accidents, the worst one when I was 7 months pregnant with my son. Thank goodness everyone came out OK!

  62. Me and My ex husband were rear ended in nov 03 after we got married in august of 03′, we were stopped at a red light and some college girl didnt see the light was red nor see us stopped and plowed into us going 50 mph the impact was enough to throw my glasses to the floor board at my feet. I have bruising in my chest wall from the seat belt and I still have back pains to this day from it.!

    freebiegoddess03@aol.com

  63. My daughter just had her first accident (been driving for a couple of months). She got really comfortable with her ‘less traveled’ road to school and didn’t do some things… kabam! Everyone was ok. Hopefully she learned a REALLY good lesson!

  64. I was driving across hwy 55 in Newport Beach when this car attempted to turn into the wrong direction on the Hwy. They just crashed into me. I dove to the passenger side of the car and glass was sprayed all over the place. Luckily, I wasn’t hurt.

  65. I was making a left turn. The car behind me stopped, but the car coming up behind it went to pass. The on coming cars made him to get back in. He didn’t realize I was stopped. He rear ended me. Would love to win. Please enter me, thank you

  66. I was stopped at a stop sign when I was rear-ended by another car because of slippery snow conditions. Luckily, it was just minor damage and no one was injured.

  67. Thankfully I haven’t had an accident in a few years. The last one was when a woman rear-ended me because of an icy road. I was not moving and it caused about $1500 worth of damage to my van.
    nrdunningATgmailDOTcom

  68. A couple thanksgivings ago our son was driving back to college when he had a deer run out in front of his car…he hit the deer who totaled his car…luckily he was not hurt but that was quite frightening.

  69. I was in a horrible accident when I was 17, one that I luckily survived. Because of this I have ever-since been a cautious, defensive driver and I know that has prevented several other accidents. One of my biggies is to always make sure the drivers on cross streets at intersections have stopped on red before I go. I’ve passed the caution and defensiveness down to my now-driving kids.

  70. Our recent car accident was just 2 months ago, it was actually my husband. Some idiot on a cell phone blew a red light and t-boned my hubby’s car, pushed him through 4 lanes of traffic and flipped him on his side. He is still out of work because of the injuries.

  71. The only accident I’ve ever had was getting rear ended. I was waiting to make a left turn and the person coming up behind me was playing with the radio and didn’t see me stopped. I was lucky not to be seriously injured.

  72. Thankfully my most recent car accident happened about 20 years ago. I was at a red light and was rear ended by a tractor trailer. My car was totalled but thankfully, I recieved only minor injuries.

  73. Over the summer I was rear ended on my way to work. We had been moving slow for quite a while, when all of a sudden I was hit from behind. It was a young kid, who I suspect on his cell, but didn’t admit too it.

  74. My first car accident at 19 yo and it was declared no fault because it happened at a traffic light and the other person ran a red light and I didn’t get witness information and my car wasn’t totaled
    tbarrettno1 at gmail dot com

  75. The most recent car accident was 7 years ago for me when a car ran a red light and hit into the side of my truck. It made my truck roll 3 times and my truck came to a stop because I hit into a light pole! I’m scared to be in a car now even though I’m a little better than right after it happened! My daily pains remind me of the accident! Thanks for the chance to win!

  76. I was passing a van going 35 in a 55 on my birthday last year, when the driver suddenly tried to pull into an access lane on our left without signaling. It totalled my car, and scared the daylights out of my kids in the backseat, but everyone in both vehicles was fine.

  77. It’s been 10 years since I was in an auto accident. An unlicensed, uninsured, drunk driver ran a stop sign and hit another car, knocking it into my vehicle. He also left the scene and was never caught.

  78. not involved in an accident *knock on wood*

  79. I haven’t had a car accident in over 20 years and hope I keep my good record! The last accident a women made an illegal left turn on a four lane highway and broadsided me. njsunbunny(at)yahoo(dot)com

  80. sedonafischer on Twitter says: never been involved in a serious accident, but insurance is good and GPS is a must have!

  81. I was in a car accident 4-5 years ago. I pulled out in a busy highway. A car did not see me pull out and pulled right in front of me. I was only going 20 miles an hour and I had $5,000 worth of damage.

  82. My first… 2 months ago… 7 weeks pregnant… A gal ran a stop sign and totaled my car! I’m okay, baby’s okay, we got enough insurance money to pay off the loan and purchase an older, but good car :)

  83. Thank goodness it’s been 16 yrs. since I was in an accident. They are no fun. I was pulling out onto the road and a car stopped to let me go. A car came up around him into the turning lane and hit me. No one was seriously hurt thank goodness.

  84. On 9/15/10, I was badly rear ended and pushed into the car in front of me by a male 20 something driver who, according to the police report said he was looking down to change a CD, but told me he was reaching for a piece of paper. In all probability he was either talking on his cell phone or texting. My car was totaled and both me and my seven week old daughter were injured in the accident. It could have been worse, but it was scary.

Prior to that I only had minor read end accidents with little or no damage.

I am insured by State Farm and they are great!

    reannenny at aol.com

  85. The last one was about 8 years ago. Some shmoe was too impatient to wait for traffic to pull out of 7-11 and slammed in reverse and ran into the hood. he was o n his cell phone too

  86. The most recent accident involved the parking lot where I left my car while I was on a business trip. They’re responsible for parking and retrieving the car and they move it around while I’m gone. When I came back, I noticed a scratch and hole in my front bumber. The good news is they were very nice about it and paid the claim right away.

  87. No recent Auto Accidents but I did stupidly allow myself to run out of gas in the winter, I don’t have an auto club membership. I now carry a blanket in my car always

  88. The last accident I was involved in happened because the person driving the other way didn’t secure their load of insulations, the big rolls of insulation. Not a good thing to hit going 50 MPH.

  89. Backing out of a space i a parking lot earlier this year. I was in a big SUV, her car was this little low rider I just didn’t see – thankfully no one was injured, repairs were minimal!

  90. My only accident was in an unmarked construction zone: word of the wise, have a camera with you always to document!

  91. I’ve only been in one accident…not 2 miles from my home when I was 16, I was reaching for my purse and didn’t realize that cars were stopped at a green light up the hill. Slammed into a parked car at 45mph. That was enough to teach me to drive safe!!

  92. I haven’t been in an accident since I was a teenager. The other driver lost his front tire on his large truck (wasn’t bolted in correctly.) It hit my driver’s side hood just below my front windshield. The car was a less than a week old. I’m not so sure my mother appreciated lending me the car only to get wrecked that quickly!

  93. The worst car accident I ever personally witnessed was when my husband and I were driving through New York state on our honeymoon. Traffic was backed up on the Interstate for miles and we were just barely creeping along. There had been an accident, and as we got closer to the scene, I knew why traffic was snarled up the way it was. The roads were wet and a man’s car had been run over by a semi, completely flattening the entire driver’s side. Needless to say, the driver did not make it.

In Minnesota, we see more accidents in fall and winter than any other time of year. Oftentimes, there are car vs. deer, car vs. moose, car vs. pretty much anything else you can crash into, and it’s not just in rural areas. Having lived most of my life in the Twin Cities, I can attest to having seen my fair share of animal-related car accidents. In winter, there are frequent spinouts, t-bones, broadsides, and LOTS of overturned cars in ditches.

  94. The only bad accident I have had, is when someone slowed down to turn off the highway & the car behind it came to an almost stop & I was behind that car & couldn’t stop quick enough…Cost me a new headlight…Could have been a lot worse…

  95. My most recent was a mishap more than an accident. A dump truck spewed concrete chunks, huge one all over an interstate causing dozens of cars blown tires and damage. Of course, the jerk in the dump truck just kept going.

  96. The last (and only) accident I’ve been in happened two years ago on Thanksgiving, when I hit a patch of black ice on my drive home to see my family and lost control of my car – I ended up sliding off the main road and hitting the median, but luckily I was not going fast and was not injured. My headlight was, however, but things could have been a lot worse!

  97. Not me as the driver, but one year while on vacation, our car was smacked in an intersection by another car. Luckily, no one was hurt, and the car was still driveable.

  98. The last accident I was in was a few years ago. My husband was driving and a pickup behind a truck in the oncoming traffic waiting at the light, backed into our lane. As my husband swerved to miss the pickup we were sideswiped by a car in the lane next to us. Thankfully no one was hurt, but our insurance had to pay for the damage done to the other car while the driver of the vehicle just drove away.

  99. Christmas Eve, traveling on a side road to avoid all the traffic, there were about 40 cars stopped for a light. The car behind got a little impatient so proceeded to turn around – and upon blocking the road with one more backup and go move the car three back from her didn’t realize that all were at a complete stop and proceeded to hit the car in front, pushing it into the next and it into the one trying to turn around – this kept me from being the next in line to get hit. Our town has a bunch of careless drivers – not sure why people don’t pay more attention to safe driving! Angels were around my car, for sure!

  100. I haven’t been in a “real” car accident before. My mom is a really bad driver, so as a child I remember her pulling into the gas station and (repeatedly) hitting a metal pole. We were very lucky she never was in a serious accident. :)

  101. I’ve been unfortunate enough to be hit several different times. It is a long stressing process after an accident too. This is a great set to have if you happen to be so unlucky.

  102. No recent accidents, but long ago while going straight across an intersection the driver opposite me turned left too soon and pulled off my rear bumper so that it hung like a door on a rickety hinge. Also tweeted (at) okiraan.

  103. No recent accident, but i was on the side of the road at 230 am a month ago and this kit would have helped!

    kaspur1212 (at) gmail (dot) com

  104. I left the grocery store about a month ago and put my groceries in the trunk; got into the car and put the key in and “pow”. As I’m wondering what happened, “pow” again! A lady was trying to pull into the spot next to me and hit me twice. She readily admitted it was her fault.

  105. My last accident I stopped at a red light and a guy plowed into the back of ,e. He was in the company vehicle and since he was at fault, he ended up losing his job. It did over $2000 damage to my car.

  106. My last car accident was in a high traffic area and I was going too fast. The car in front of me stopped quickly and I hit them :( Thankfully, no one was hurt.

Thanks for a great giveaway! I lost our gps *blush* so I’d love to win a replacement.

  107. i was coming out of our street and got t-boned by a guy who drove past all the cars waiting for the light to change, was one lane each way but he was passing everyone and nailed me.. his fault, insurance took care of it, but they didn’t entirely bend back my rocker panel all the way… oh well, 95% of normal will have to do

  108. Over the last few years I have been rear ended twice. Fortunately, I wasn’t hurt (or the other driver) either time.

  109. only been in one accident :: knock on wood :: but my friend accidentally tapped another car in stop and go traffic with me in the car. pretty scary even at like 10mph! :(

  110. I was rear ended by two different cars in the same accident in the pouring rain. One stopped and the other just kept going. I do not understand when people think it is okay to leave the scene of an accident.

  111. saw the light was green passed over the train tracks and went through the light to make a left turn, guess the light changed (?) some woman come flying down the street and hit my left rear 1/4 panel and spun the car around. i didnt get a ticket for running the light, air bags were great in my Kia Forte. love Kia. seat belts on. child in the middle back seat in car seat. wow what a day.

  112. My only accident was when I first got my car (still had permit) a lady ran a stopsign, rammed into my door, backed up and took off but luckily I had a carful and we got her license number

  113. Thankfully I’ve not been in a recent car accident, but I was rear-ended once on a three-lane high-speed street where two of the lanes were suddenly blocked (for a construction site, without prior warning signs).

  114. A couple of years ago I was rear ended while at a stop light. The guy was going home after a 16hr shift and was tired(too tired to be driving if you ask me). Great prize-Thanks for the chance!

  115. It’s been years but I backed into a pole that I just didn’t see. Was so embarrassing. Thanks for the chance!

    tdlsfm(at)gmail(dot)com

  116. I scraped my dad’s car into another car backing out of a parking spot when I was first learning to drive. That was my only accident. Knock wood.

  117. I wasnt driving, but was in a car accident about 12 years ago with my dads girlfriend. I still have problems with my elbow. We were T boned.

    itsjustme62613 at gmail.com

  118. I was just driving along and somebody turned left in front of me, hit me and my car, we bounced off another car which was just waiting at a stop sign…my car had to be “written off” :(

  119. I’ve never been in an accident when I was driving. Many, many years ago I was in the passanger seat of my dad’s car and he hit a patch of ice and our car ended up hitting a metal barrier and was totaled.

  120. I have not been in an accident in several years. My wife had someone pull out right in front of her and caused a t-bone accident earlier this year though. It was her first wreck ever. When I met her at the scene I was surprised anybody survived in the other car, but the driver was ok.

  121. Thankfully the last accident I had was 20+ years ago when I was first learning to drive. I ran into a mailbox and knocked it down.

  122. I’ve never had a real accident (knock on wood!) but when I first got my license I backed into another car in a parking lot and smashed the headlight of it :/ The owner was very kind and told me not to worry about it.

  123. My most recent car accident was about 6 years ago in college when I rear ended another car-I’ve been in 3 car accidents and all of them involved me rear ending another car-I’ve since payed more attention :)
    hmhenderson AT yahoo DOT com

  124. Almost 20 years driving, believe it or not, I have not had any car accident. Still I got non-moving violation traffic tickets as well as parking tickets. :(

  125. I’ve been in a number of fender benders, only one of which (about 21 years ago) was my fault. Most recently, and this was several years ago, I was trying to make a left turn onto a busy divided highway in the rain. I stopped, checked for oncoming traffic, then pulled forward into the median area, where I again stopped to wait for oncoming traffic. The jerk behind me didn’t stop. I guess he just assumed that I’d barrel on out into traffic without looking, just like he did.

  126. I haven’t been in a car accident in many many years. Thank goodness since I did have to make an evasive maneuver yesterday on the freeway. There was a giant piece of car fender in the middle of two lanes. Three cars in front of me swerved to miss it & then it was our turn. Luckily we were in the left most lane and able to move into the shoulder.

  127. the closest Ive been to in an accident was this lady on her cellphone wasnt paying attention tried to change lanes into my lane when I was right next to her, I had to swerve off the road to avoid being hit luckily no one was hurt.

  128. I was backed into in a pizza hut parking lot. I was in the right, but that still didn’t prevent me from needing $250 dollars worth of repairs.

  129. Haven’t had an accident for 40 years (or gotten a ticket in 30 years). Luckily the ones I had during my feckless youth were cautionary tales that taught me to me a more careful driver. Over the years I’ve driven a big rig and local delivery van, commuted on motorcycle and bicycle and braved LA’s freeways totalling 100’s of thousands of miles. Cars eat people (whether it’s the costs of ownership, fuel, insurance, envy + greed, sound and air pollution or the scary statistics surrounding vehicular injury and death) and we must act accordingly.

  130. I have never been in an accident but my son was rear ended, a guy came plowing through the intersection and ran right into him. And my daughter was also hit-someone T boned her in at a mall. Ruined her car.

  131. The last car accident I was in was in 1976. I was sitting in my 6 day old Ford Mustang, stopped at a light, and some idiot plowed into the back of my car. This was before cell phones, so I went to a nearby store to call the police and the guy took off. I gave the police his license plate number, but it was a struggle to get his insurance company to pay because I was not the insured so they didn’t want to talk to me. I asked them what made them think that their hit-and-run insuree was going to call them. They didn’t care. But they finally did pay up.

  132. My most recent accident was not my fault. I had just bought my minivan I had been wanting for years and years. Paid $5000 and was making monthly payments. I had the van 29 days and got into a head on collission, luckly noone was hurt. My van was however destroyed and the officer sited them for the accident. However, their horrible insurance company fought it and I only ended up with a 2,000 check to replace my “just bought” $5000 van….obviously not a very good day for me. This prize pack would sure make up for it :)

  133. I like this post on FB and commented on your page asking a question about insurance. (Lyndsey Rullman- FB name)

  134. Sideswipped a lady that was speeding and changed lanes without warning. She did not report the accident and it did no damage to my big truck.

  135. Luckily, no car accidents recently. My husband was rear-ened 2 years ago; no injuries and the driver at fault had State Farm insurance and all repairs taken care of promptly.

  136. I was in a car accident 17 years ago…I had the right of way and a old man was turning left…I was lucky that the air bag deployed-it would have been much worse…we had only had the car 3 weeks

  137. I was riding in the car with my husband last year when a deer ran out in front of us. It was dark and we didn’t see it and there was no way to avoid it. It was our first ever brand new car we just bought 3 months earlier. It did about $5000 in damage. It was my first (and hopefully last) time being in an accident. It was a weird experience. It was like everything including the sounds was in slow motion. I never want to experience that again.

    braaisjo at gmail dot com

  138. My most recent was when I was stopped at a stop light I was rear-ended by a car going about 40 mph…totalled my car out…the lady didn’t even see if I was okay

    trippyjanet at hotmail dot com

  139. I haven’t been IN a car accident but my car was hit by a bus while pulling up to the house to drop a girl off. The bus left, which made for an interesting conversation. Thanks for the giveaway, this emergency bag looks awesome!

  140. I have been in one automobile accident. I hit the side of a ditch. Injuring just myself, no other cars were involved. I am following, liking, joining and subscribing. Jacob G. Simmons@Facebook

  141. My most recent accident was when I was 36 weeks pregnant with my son. My husband was driving and I was in the passenger seat, on the way to work. Traffic all of a sudden screeched to a halt for some reason (only in our lane) so we slammed on the brakes. Luckily the van behind us stopped just in time, but the car behind us did not and not only did that person ram their car into the van, but the force caused the van to ram into us. Scary day with a baby on the way!

  142. Fortunately, I’ve never been involved in a serious car accident, though I did break down once on a trip completely alone, four hours from anyone I knew in the days before cell phones. It was pretty terrifying!

    alise(at)bigmama247(dot)com

  143. Last accident I was in was about 5 years ago when my mom was driving. Someone came up behind the vehicle and hit my moms vehicle a little. It didn’t to much damage but I was about 7 or 8 months pregnant. Luckily everyone in my moms and the other persons vehicle was fine.

  144. I’ve never been in an accident, except for one time when I was pregnant and i thought I’d freak out the other passengers while I was in the back seat.

I got a whoopee cushion and proceeded to pretend to be “having problems” with gas to play a practical joke on the two people in the front seat.

Well, it turns out that wasn’t so smart because the driver looked back, shocked and laughing and didn’t see a deer in the road. The poor deer got killed and our car got totaled.

    We were all fine though.

  145. I haven’t been in an accident for a number of years now, but my most recent accident was when some guy tried to turn left in front of me from the right lane on a one way street. He was from out of town and his company car almost had the front drivers side wheel bent off the car. All I had was a broken headlight and front bumper.

  146. I was in an accident about 8 years ago and rear ended a car at a light. It was in the winter time and I was going a little too fast. It was very scary and I still don’t like to get very close to cars.

  147. I am a fairly safe driver and the last accident I was in was over 20 years ago when a lady ran a red light and hit me. I was not wearing a belt at the time and my head cracked the windshield! I learned my lesson then and have always buckled up

  148. I’ve only been in one car accident; my brakes failed and I T-Boned a car….. I was pretty banged up and scared, but nothing broken.

  149. My husband was in an accident where his new car was totaled. Thank goodness everyone was okay. I have had State Farm for a long time…started at age 16 ..will be the big 40 this year . When this wreck happened..State Farm paid off the loan on the car in full within a week. State Farm is awesome.

  150. i’ve been in several accidents the most recent one was a fender bender on the way to work, it was annoying but not too bad!

  151. I personally have never been in a car accident. But my daughter just called me and she was in one today on the freeway! Thank God no one was hurt!

  152. Thanks for the giveaway…was in an auto accident about 10 years ago, I was driving a Volvo station wagon & was hit almost head-on by a pick-up that had crossed the center line…had a few bruises but the Volvo was a total loss; pick-up driver fractured skull & arm, and truck was totaled..oh, and he was cited !

  153. I am very blessed it has been a long time since I have been in an accident. The last one I was in I was in line at Mcdonalds and this guy forgot to tell the lady an item he wanted and put his car in reverse and slammed into mine busting my headlight and cracking my grill.

  154. I had a car accident about 5 years ago. It was just a very small fender bender, where the driver of the car behind me bumped me. Hardly a scratch. Messed my back up though. Strange how the smallest little jars can really mess someone up.
    michedt (at) gmail (dotcom)

  155. Unfortunately my daughter was recently in a car accident and by the grace of G-d she was ok. The car was totaled but no other cars were involved.

Thanks for sponsoring the contest !

  156. I am fortunate to have not been in an accident for the last fifteen years.
The last accident I was sitting in the turning lane waiting for my turn when a lady slid on wet roads and hit me from behind.

  157. I’ve never been in an accident but I almost was in the snow a few weeks ago. Fishtailed but luckily there was no one around and I got some traction back easily.

  158. It’s gratefully been a long time (15 years or so) but it was on an icy road and I got rear-ended by a macho guy in an SUV who thought his big truck could stop on ice.
    Thanks for the contest.

  159. my future sister in law was pulling out of my brothers driveway and didn’t look behind her and smashed right into us !

  160. Its been a few years but I had a 95 Monte Carlo and was on my way home from just getting my engine rebuilt by a friend. I was sitting at a light and the next thing I know there is a truck in my backseat….literally! This is less than 20 minutes after handing my friend $1800 for a new engine. In the end Pro***s**e would not pay for the engine just because it was done in my friends garage…what garbage….

  161. I was hit by someone who was making a right turn on red – they clipped me in the front corner as I was going straight in my lane.

  162. I was last in a car accident while in college as the driver of the car I was in lost control of the car and we nearly flipped but thankfully, everything turned out okay!

  163. I haven’t had a recent one, which i’m VERY happy about! My dad was rear-ended last week though! Everything was okay though :)

  164. Luckily I haven’t had an accident in a number of years. The worse accident was when I hit a HUGE deer. It totaled my car and it was a scary experience. I felt bad for the deer too.

  165. Our most recent accident was a few yrs ago. The roads were sheets of black ice, we wouldn’t have ventured out but we had a plane to catch. Never did catch it though…there were so many accidents that day, it took forever to get a tow truck. We eventually dug ourselves out and limped over to our car dealership were we had purchased the car just over a week previous :( No one was hurt :) silenttributary at yahoo dot com

  166. I was run off the road by a big jerk who was trying to get her kid (unbuckled, by the way) to school on time. Luckily, only my driver-ego was bruised.

  167. It has been awhile since I was in an accident.A few years back we were
crossing an intersection at night with blinking lights. They were doing some road construction, the guys waved us through and a pickup truck was coming over a little hill .The truck hit my side of the car and then we landed against a
pole across the street.Luckily I just had some head lacerations and was
badly bruised.I must say it was a scary experience.

  168. I was in an accident December 23. A tractor trailer truck hit me in the side while changing lanes. My car was spun off the road, across the median and across the other two lanes of highway going the other direction. I wasn’t hurt but my car was heavily damaged. December 28 last year I was involved in another accident. I was stopped behind a garbage truck when a pickup hit my car from behind and pushed me into the garbage truck. I wasn’t injured but my car was destroyed.

  169. I haven’t been in an accident in a very long time and it was only once..but it was the middle of a huge storm and I decided I wasn’t going to sit at home in the dark so I picked up 2 friends and headed out to eat…well we went through a dark intersection and the guy in front of me decided to stop right in the middle as soon as he noticed what he was doing…and I was following too closely and I rear ended him…and this was a new car I had only had a couple of weeks and it destroyed the front end :( Very sad, and if the guy just would have kept going then it wouldn’t have happened, there was no reason for it…
