As many dads and moms know, Tangled is Disney’s latest hit movie. We actually received passes for a free screening of the movie last month, but we didn’t make it to the theater in time (it’s not easy to pack up four kids and head across town). I’m not actually blogging about the movie today. Instead, I’m writing about the Disney Tangled Rapunzel toys because the Mattel team recently sent my five-year old daughter a couple of Tangled toys to play with. As some of you know, my youngest daughter is actually a tomboy. She prefers boy toys over girl toys so I wasn’t sure if she would like the Rapunzel doll (it’s very girly). The verdict: she loves the Rapunzel doll and Maximus horse.
Here’s what Mattel sent us:
Disney Tangled Featuring Rapunzel Braiding Friends Hair Braider
This doll set includes a braiding wheel (for braiding Rapunzel’s hair), cute little animals, a brush, hair clips and some really tiny rubber bands. They doll is for girls age three and up. However, your little one will probably need your help with a couple of things (like wrapping the braided hair with the rubber bands and slipping on the shoes — don’t laugh, but I had to ask my wife to put on the shoes because I couldn’t do it). My guess is that the doll will appeal to older girls too. For instance, I’m fairly certain my girly ten-year daughter is already scheming to get to the doll. I wouldn’t be surprised if she convinces her little sister to trade the doll to her for five imaginary stars and a toy to be named later. The list price of the doll is $30, but it’s currently selling for $50 on Amazon via third party sellers. It appears online retailers are having trouble keeping the doll in stock (sold out at Toysrus.com, Walmart.com, and Target.com). If you want to get the braiding Rapunzel doll for your little girl, you’re better off looking at a local retailer.
Disney Tangled Featuring Rapunzel Maximus Horse
Other than looking magnificent and bobbing it’s head up and down, the Maximus horse doesn’t do a whole lot. But my daughter likes brushing it’s hair. She also likes placing Rapunzel on Maximus for pretend pony rides. Awww, how cute. My ten-year daughter likes the horse too (she’s already braided Maximus’ mane). The Maximus horse toy includes hair clips and a brush. It has a list price of $20 but it’s not easy to find online (it’s selling for $42 at Amazon via a third party seller).
Anyhow, if you’re looking for a holiday gift idea for a little girl, check out the Disney Tangled Rapunzel toys at a store near you.
