Atari sent me the Atari’s Greatest Hits: Volume 1 for the Nintendo DS for review. Much to the disappointment of my little monsters, we don’t own a Nintendo DS. So I’m giving them it away to an unlucky a lucky reader of my dad blog. Atari’s Greatest Hits: Volume 1 features 50 of their most addicting games from the Atari arcade and Atari 2600 vault. These games include Asteroids, Pong, Centipede, Missile Command and Tempest. Atari’s Greatest Hits Vol 1 is rated “E” for Everyone. The suggested retail price is $29.99. Atari’s Greatest Hits would make a fun stocking stuffer for the retro gamer.

  1. Centipede was my all-time favorite Atari game. I can remember playing it at the skating rink as a big-haired, skinny jean-wearing 13 year old, LOL!

  2. My favorite Atari game of all time was Pitfall!! It’s funny to think that it was the last word in gaming technology back in the day :)

  3. Pong. I will never forget seeing a Pong machine in the bowling alley. I will also never forget trying to play it and stinking at it. I was lousy at bowling too.

  4. On my 2600 my favorite game was Warlords. But Tempest was, and still is, my favorite cabinet arcade game of all time. Tweeted contest. Already following on twitter.

  5. I remember spending hours during the summer months playing Break Out. I know I was the champion. I would love to give this to the boys so they can relive my glory days. Thank you

  6. I would give this to my boyfriend. He’s a big gamer and I think he’d love being able to play atari games on the DS he just got me.

  7. I would love to see these games again! I was born in 1972 and I loved the games!!! My daughter is getting a DS for Christmas this year and she wants this game sooo bad.

  8. Centipede is my favorite game! I used to play it on the Commodore 64. I remember one time I was positioned perfectly and so were the mushrooms. I was able to level up wildly (I don’t remember the level) and it was so much fun! Never happened again, though. Funny the kind of happy memories you get from winning a game.

  9. OMGosh!!! So hard to pick. I could bust a million on Asteroids, absolutely LOVE Centipede, and oh geez – I remember Tempest, too. That was a great one. Back in the day, when we first got Pong, we really thought it was the stinkin’ BOMB!!!! :) I remember rushing home from school to play and we were just mesmerized by the bouncing ball. haha I would definitely kick my son off the DS so I could play this!

  10. Sadly, I didn’t have an Atari cause my parents didn’t buy me things like that…however, my neighbors got all the cool toys and they had one and I played Bowling at their house and I loved it!

  11. I’m not sure I had one favorite as I had 2 Atari consoles and many games as a kid, I played all of them pretty equally, I’ll go with Pac-Man though
